Turned out yesterday evening at about 5:50pm, after about 5-10 minutes the dogs struck. The dogs got him shut down about 100 yards from where they struck him. We could hear the bay, and hear a dog get hit a couple of times, but we could not see it. We cut Meathead loose, and never heard a squeel. Just more grunting while the hog was walking through the brush with Meaty, It seemed like it took us forever to get to the bay getting hung up in the vines and brush. Once we finally got there, I legged him and Mandi came in with the knife to dispatch him.

No serious damage to any of the dogs, Patches got a couple of small cuts, and Meathead got a couple as well. Lupe our Plott cross was fine, but tired. Split, rolled out looking for more hogs. We decided that with Meathead being so hot, and not having a backup catchdog with us, that we should go ahead and call Split in.

By about 6:15 we were loaded up, and headed to the house. Here are a couple of pictures.

Marty,
We have a nice deer hunting property in Pearsall, that we have only been to once this year, and we did not even go opening weekend. Instead we stayed here and ran the dogs.  Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy deer hunting, but nothing can compare to the feeling you get when your dogs work as a team and find, stop, and hold a good hog. I think probably the only thing that can top that is doing it with dogs that you raised and trained yourself. I am not to that point, YET. Still using bought dogs.

Congrats again guys!!  I like the color of that hog I have only been lucky enough to kill one that color, they are real unusual.  I think he will look great on the wall!

Here is the one that me and Chris Windham killed back in Feb that was similar to that color.
