I think the Dane did good on the big hog. He held a good boar alone, most bulldogs would of had a hard time doing that.

I dont know if yall were watchin the same show as me but I dont ever remember seein that big sob in the spotlight.... and if he is sooooo used to watchin the spotlight why didnt he catch the first hog, looked like to me the light did more in confusing him than it did in helpin him atempt to catch that first hog...

Im not here to argue with you or listen to you take up for him, i simply stated my opinion... I WOULDNT FEED THE DOG!!!!

thats strictly my opinion, seems like you like him, so be it.. shining a hog with a spotlight and turning a catch dog loose on him is not my cup of tea. I see very little training or work done

I wish every dogger would breed thier dogs to SUPER RIDDICK that way I know thier will always be plenty of hogs to hunt.I know alot of this is for TV but do any of you know if this Josh dude is for real with this BS?Is this the way he really hunts? As bad as it was I thought the guys from Florida were the more impressive of the 2 so called hogdoggers,at least thier dogs could trail one. There are 5 10 year old boys from Buna TX that could really show these people how its done, these kids live in the woods and will stay out there 2-3 days at a time until thier mothers make thier dad go get them. These kids are so well respected even with veteran hogdoggers that everyone that knows them will let them borrow thier best dogs because the kids know thier stuff. That show is like driving up on a bad car wreck, you dont want to look but you just have too.Riddick!!!!!Come on now, they should be embarrassed.Hell Im embarrassed for them.

Not my cup of tea relying on one catch dog. But I agree the dog did hold a large hog, on his own, where many would have trouble.

Im just not sure how you came to that conclusion that the dog doesnt use his nose... did he find that last boar with xray and night vision? If so I deffinetly need one of those danes if they come with all that lol.

Chris not my cup as well. I don't see spot lighting hogs has effective. If you gonna do it then shoot the hogs. You could kill a few and wound a few more.

Hell they probably caught him with bulldogs  then pulled the bulls off and let Riddick take over, its the Hollywood way!!!I dont believe for one second that dog could hold that pig. Most doggers I know wouldnt have lasted 10 minutes with that film crew.

x2

i think L3 would be more effective if they used a spotlight and a AR15 or a night vision scope. revised: cantex beat me to it....

Tcolt, I'll put this into simple terms for you. You are jaded by that dane's color pattern.  Wink

It's not ticking though. If I could buy him for a 1/2 sack of wet mildewed dogfeed, I'd keep the feed.  Grin

I dont hunt that way either guys but dang atleast he's trying to make it look decent. hell all the other guys look like a bunch of clowns with some sho nuff pot lickers it takes them 10 min. to even strike a hog in a gated neighborhood when the hogs are right there WTF i even seen one time his garmin said 35 yrds and the dog was squalking like a wild indian  .......Huh?Huh?..........are you serious i personaly think this is not good for our sport and then the tv people are going to butcher it to death and make it look as cruel and messed up as they can JMO

If you want to see how johnny public feels about this show, check out discovery's blog spot. There are some mad folks on there, and these folks want the hogs shot so they aren't necessarily ar folks. There are some which like the program, some that don't, and still more that criticise "the so-called professional" in Texas for his lack of skills. I don't think this type of programming is good for my sport at all. I don't want to see three dogs on a hog's head on national tv. I don't want to see highlighting a cut dog on national tv. I don't want someone panicking over a cut dog instead of quietly proving that  you can handle it. Yes, it can and does happen, but I don't want it in everyone's living room  sensationalized through editing. The public does not need to be shielded from it, but how many more anti hunters (or pro hunter, anti dog hunters) were made by the airing of this program? I think a responsible hog dogger would not subject the sport to this type of editing no matter how much you want to be on tv.
Cheers

Look,  to land owners with little dogging experience , letting folks hunt with dogs is a bit scary as they consider the liabilities and risks involved as well as the possibility of opening their land to unscrupulous poaching and folks who leave gates open or whose dogs catch livestock. So when a landowner is considering whether to use dogs, gun and bow hunters or traps and they view this show,  here is what they will indefinitely come away with. Guys who trap are courteous, quiet and effective.  Whereas doghunters will drive to your property in multiple trucks. Unload multiple ATV's and proceed to go joy riding around your land spotlighting pigs only to ultimately realese a dog and quit after catching a decent hog in an attempt to quit while their ahead. With all the emphasis on how deadly the pigs are to the dogs its only safe to assume that all hog doggers want is to catch a trophy and Leave.

I posted last week thatwe should take it easy on him and I should've added take it easy on his wife, and I still wont participate in personality bashing,  BUT, the show itself made hunting with dogs look chaotic and HIGHLY INEFFECTIVE!!!!! .

Lol, looks like a big version of alot of the cat dogs I hunt behind, just hits alot harder.

Thats a little harsh lol, but to each his own, if Josh is enjoying the way he hunts then good for him. To each his own, havin fun is what this is about.

Bullmaster, I think they did catch him with bulldogs first, there was three stuck way up in the tree branches by their vests, looked like that pig had tossed them up there  Grin ... looked like pits to me, they should have used dogos first  Evil
