I have a feeling that the Discovery Channel would have made the best Hog Doggers with the best dogs around look ridiculous to the knowing with their editing and narration.
L3 is not bashing my way of hunting and the dogs I use on this show so I am going to extend him the same.
His choice of dogs and his style of hunting don't suit me but he doesn't feed my dogs and I don't feed his.

That being said, overall, I just don't like the show so far for a lot of reasons.

I was dissapointed in that there were not five truck loads of hounds dumped into the race in Florida.  I thought that was how it was done over there Wink

It's no problem. You wouldn't have known anyway, as the issues were pretty much in private. The public portion of it was forgivable with a slap on the wrist. The private issues were what got him banned.

If you want to see how johnny public feels about this show, check out discovery's blog spot. There are some mad folks on there, and these folks want the hogs shot so they aren't necessarily ar folks. There are some which like the program, some that don't, and still more that criticise "the so-called professional" in Texas for his lack of skills. I don't think this type of programming is good for my sport at all. I don't want to see three dogs on a hog's head on national tv. I don't want to see highlighting a cut dog on national tv. I don't want someone panicking over a cut dog instead of quietly proving that  you can handle it. Yes, it can and does happen, but I don't want it in everyone's living room  sensationalized through editing. The public does not need to be shielded from it, but how many more anti hunters (or pro hunter, anti dog hunters) were made by the airing of this program? I think a responsible hog dogger would not subject the sport to this type of editing no matter how much you want to be on tv.

I read all of the blogs about the show! Huh?  Seems like showing the public a hogdogging show isn't setting well with the majority! I hope this doesnt stir up a bunch of poop about hogdogging! Sad

Lol. You may even get your own show too! I would love to hear how Discovery would narrate that one!

On a serious note.  This show is just that  a tv show.  The purpose of the show is only known by the producer.  I have to agree with Chris.  Dogs should not be shown caught on a hog.  Sticking a hog should not be shown on TV.  Flaling a knife around while approaching or retreating from a hog should not be shown on tv.  This will probably not be good for our sport.  The actors on the tv show are just that actors.  Are they passionate about their dogs?  I hope so.  The fact of the matter remains SOME PEOPLE DON'T WANT to see animals killed by a knife on tv or dogs latched onto a hog on tv.  I feel that there should be hog hunting on tv but more of dogs baying then once the catchdog is released cut and go to the finished product a hog tied or a dead hog.  I don't think we as hog hunters should hide what we do but do think that it should be done in a sensable manner.  The team from Texas has not said anything that would discredit any other methods of hog hunting and for that I am greatful.  Yes, the big spotted dog held a big hog by itself without another dog.  However, even if it was staged the absolute panic over a cut on tv looked bad period.
