I have a funny (not a slam) I would like to share and see if anyone else noticed it.  Richard when you watch it tonight listen carefully for this.  But after the big hog is cought by Riddick and Josh radios Matt listen and tell me they don't sound slightly Australian when they talk to one another.  It is subtle but definitely there.  Again not a bash or a rant, just an observation that I heard while watching.

They are promtoing this L3 outdoors as the best of the best, well I sure do hope that at least some of the people, mainly farmers and landowners and other hunters, don't come away thinking that ALL Hog hunters and thier dogs are as INEFFECTIVE and ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS as the clowns on this show..
I can only imagine how the general public will percieve all us "just average" hog hunters after watching these "professionals"...   Makes me sick to my stomach...

I do wish that i could ask the Team of hogdoggers from Texas a question. When the large dog caught the boar hog on last nights episode. I noticed that when the guy grabbed the hog by the back legs that the dog had turned loose and was biting the hog on the back of the neck. And my question is, did the dog release the hog by command, or is he trained to turn loose when you grab the hog? Not trying to be a smarty pants, just curious. I know that every one has their own way of doing things and we have to choke our cd off or use a break stick and we usually don't do this until the hog is secure, especially when it is a large boar.

I think he's trained to release after the pig is under control.

Ckeck out the Discovery blog. There are folk (including fellow hunters and outdoorsmen) saying that dogging should be band and we as doggers should be thrown in prison!  Shocked

A lot of the bloggers on both sides of the issue are hopping that the show is dropped after this episode. Im praying for it!!! Good job Hogs gone Wild!!!  Angry

Judging from the outcry I see on this blog it makes me wonder if this wasnt the Discovery Channels plan all along!  Huh?

Get ready to battle some legislation folks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Angry  People are writing their Congressman as I type this. Fellow hunters included!!!

all i have to say is that "hollywood" is designed to get a rise out of ppl good or bad and they are dang good at it its obvious from all the commentS  that are floatin around the internet... i watched the show and do not agree with the show it should never of been done imo there is just to much stuff that could go wrong for one i wouldn't show my dogs caught on the hog i would of showed the bayin and then the hogs after they were tied or killed keepin the blood to a very minimum and pretty much the whole show needs to be thrown out the window but that is my 2 cents

Alan,
I find it both ironic and sad that one of the actors at the center of this controversial show, Krystal White ,
happens to be a TDHA BOD.  It seems like someone that is in that position would be the first to make sure that hog dogging would not be portrayed in a negative light.
Maybe she has the best intentions, and never considered the potential bad publicity.... but, seeing as she has been.through this before with the old newspaper article, I am surprised she doesn't remember how bad things can get...

I agree Alan.  The problem I see when reading the  DC blog is that even  fellow hunters (not hog hunters) are asking why use a dog when you can just shoot the hogs.  And actually I understand where they are coming from, especially when the premise of the show is eradicating a problem, not a hunting style. What the show has done is make it look like the dogs are used in place of a gun.  Spotlighting and finding the hog while the dogs ride along in a truck or UTV, then sending the dog to "catch" it is making the sport look bad. And nothing against L3!  The other crew did the same thing on last nights episode. We all know that the dogs are used for finding the hogs and then stopping them, but that is not what is being portrayed.  The people on the blog are likening it to dog fighting, which we all know is not the case.

Three nights a go I came home at 9:00 PM, and when I turned in the cattle guard there was a huge group of hogs rooting in my father in laws heifer pasture next to his house.  I wanted to go get my dogs, but I also knew I was going to get rid of more of them and out of there faster using the grill guard on my truck!

Been reading that blog on the DC website.  This sure could be another nail in the coffin that we didn't need.  There are a darn lot if ignorant people out there that just don't have a clue about anything that goes on once you leave pavement and what's worse they don't want a clue either.  They just want to sit in their apartments and rage about what they don't understand.  I don't think it would have mattered who was on the show, in that venue the reaction would have been the same.

Boar it never ceases to amaze   how other hunters that arent doggers are so quick to try and get laws in place to stop doggers. There are some hunting practices that I really dont agree with but I have enough common sense to know if thier favorite sport is banned that mine could be the next sport in jeopardy.I honestly believe we are about to have a fight on our hands in the near future,I hope I am wrong. Many of us from parts of TX where deer dogs were legal at one time are getting nervous because I remember how it all got started and I am having some serious 90s flashbacks.

I just googled "Hogs gone wild forums" and read about 10 different hunting, bow, and fishing forums where they had discussed the show and other hunters arent holding back. It is obvious that this show has started a wildfire. Most of the comments were pretty bad.  :'(

You know, for awile I was entertaining the thought of getting a dane just for a one out dog. After seeing how well he worked, I believe I'll stick to what I have. He did handle that big un well, but if they have to spotlight everything for him, why not use a rifle. At least you'd have a chance at more than one off of a group. that style aint for me.

As ridiculous as the editing is, that Dane could have trailed that boar 2 counties over and held it for 24 hours before they caught up to him. I dont believe hardly anything I have seen on this show. I did see him holding that big boar all by himself though. That part alone impressed me.
