Some of the most memorable times sometimes involve culls. Catching the biggest hanging weight hog I have ever been on with three cur dogs and no bulldog was one of them. The pit was just starting out and happened to get on that huge boar. She took one look at that corn field boar hog and loaded herself back in the truck! Luckily we were right there and those three curs handled things. It was a tough one just on account of size. That was a story worth sharing with the buddies and the no account bulldog added a huge part to it.
Cheers

Chris, on the TDHA site, L3 has posted all his work re writing the standards for a boar hound. It may answer your question about registering a grade Dane as a boar hound.

If it is in a section you cant see, let me know and I'll PM it to you.

Funny thing happened today.  I called the 1 800 for Dish network to get service at my shop and the feller on the other end of the line was trying to sell me the "Sports Package" and I told him I wanted everything but the sports cause we dont football.  Im sure their alot that do and thats great, we just dont!  As i was telling him what I wanted he said well mam' hunting is a sport... and I said yea, it is.  We talked on for a long time about hunting and all then he said "I seen the craziest thing the other night on the Discovery Channel".  I said, yea what did you see?  He proceeded in telling me all about the Hogs gone wild show and said that it was awsom.  I said well, things are really a little different than that but for the most part, its round about similar.  He said that he thought that they were making up the story about pigs being wild, mean, dangerouse and in peoples yards.... i laughed and told him that that part was the true part.  He never said anything bad about the sport of hog hunting and had plenty of chances but for  the most part,he  liked it.  I am just hoping that others were not discouraged by the show and that others liked it like he did!!!  Hey, by the end of our conversation, he gave me a dang good deal on service too!! lol  Just wanted to share a short story, that may be a good thing and that maybe...just maybe people really arent hating our sport of hog hunting as much as we may think!!

if you are not a hunter the show looks good. and is filmed to be hunter positive. only a hunter can tell you that the people are idiots. Just keep in mind the show is to entertain and educate non hunters  of the importance of hunting. i do think that with experience and guidance the Florida boys could be good.and the hawaii guy is verry entertaning they def do things diffrent. as for the Dane he looks great on camera even if he cant get the job done. in my kennels he would be culled but than i would have never tried to train a Dane. back in the day Great Danes were great hunters but over time  the hunting instinct was bread out to make better pets and that’s were they should stay.  As for the show as long as they keep the positive look on hunting I will watch and support it. just my opinion

Great Danes are not hog dogs and have not been for 175 years, they are dumb, slow, dont bark and eat too much and wont fit in dog box and will drag you down if you try to lead them, why waste time on junky show dogs who poop 5 pounds a day??? lol

There's stil some with drive.   I bought one for my now wife I'n high school. Got him at 8 weeks old from lady I'n forney they are supose to raise the biggest great Danes I'n USA.  Bruiser was 235 lbs I'n his fatest stage hid did really nothin but lay round was bayin hogs one day and he wandered down there and caught 220lb first time he ever saw one. And caught hard.   I am I no way saying I would ever use one but every house dog I've ever had hated hogs from Boston terrier greatdane basset hound and rat terrier I have now.  He was also not afraid to through down with another dog if u didn't watch him. Josh called a few times wanting to breed to him wen he was first wanting to go to one but never did and he died shortly after bout two yrs ago now only pic I got right now but he was normally bout 200 lbs real bulky for great Dane. And wasn't to clumsy wen he got bout three then he be came fat

well, i tried to stay out of this one for obvious reasons.  First, I've hunted with Josh's dog in brush and he did suprisingly well.  Out hunted a dog i thought was hunting fairly well at the time.  I've also hunted with him on some plowed under corn fields and we used a spotlight to find the hogs because the fields we hunted were off of a WELL traveled highway.  If you asked me if i'd feed the dog, i'd have to say it would depend on what i had to hunt.  Where Josh hunts and what he hunts it is effective, is it more effective than hunting with bay dogs that's all just debate.  No way to make that call I don't care who you are.  I've also witnessed that dog holding a hog (that was even back to back for over 45 minutes) that was the biggest i've ever seen in the wild.  He's a highly driven dog, I'll for damn sure say that.

Now, for Josh, I'll leave the only thing i can say .............. absolutely nothing.  Dont think nothing of him or about him.

The show absolutely sucks. Period.  I think it's a joke and so does everyone else i've talked to or read on the almighty internet.  Best thing i can say is don't watch.   Shows with piss poor ratings don't last very long.  The less you speak of him or his "company" the less publicity they get.  I'm sure you've all heard the saying "There's no such thing as bad publicity"....
