The time has come for all hunting/working dog owners to stand together and fight!
Go to www.LSWDA.org and help us, the stronger the voice, the easier it is to hear.

How can they determine what a pit bull is unless it has papers? There are alot of full blood and mixed breed dogs out there, that to someone who doesnt know there dogs, could be mistaken for a pit bull. I'll just call mine East Texas Boar Terriers! LOL

That's part of the problem, who can? Likely the one standing in front of it, looking at it. Odds are they won't know what they're looking at and will make an assumption.
It could very well be like in my town, an uneducated old pot bellied man that works for the city, and his phone rings when a stray dog shows up.
Being a city employee, his job is to drop what he's doing, go back to the barn and hook onto the little getter trailer they use.
He then shows up with a sack of snack or treats (likely yesterday's sack lunch leftovers) and attempts to coax it into the trailer.
By the time he's done dealing with this situation he's tired and angry, has missed his break or lunch, and could careless, he's taking the dog.
Right, wrong, no matter, you can see the troubles coming.

I can't find anything to read on the circumstances of the attack itself, which leads me to wonder where the parents were during the attack, and if parental supervision could have prevented it.  Not that i don't blame the dog owner, and the dog, but it still makes me wonder.

i live in a town in lousiana where pits are prohibited. It sucks cause either i have to hide a catchdog or get one that doesn't "look like" a pit, which the drunk dog catcher in my town wouldn't know one if it bit here on the *ss!!! They tried to tell me that AB and Dogos were pits, because thye look alike and have some of the same colors. i had a buddy the the dog catcher wanted to take two of his cur dogs because they were brindle.

Heck even somebody that's' been around pits for a while can make that mistake.  somebody posted on this forum i think a link that had fifteen or twenty dog pictures and only one of them was a pit.  I picked the wrong dog.  I'm not saying I'm some sort of expert, but i thought i could at least pick one out of a crowd.

I don't know about that, our catch dog is a pit/dane and he will hit a hog like a frieght train and then fold it up and put it in his back pocket.  Grin  ..... Im sure that i will pay for that statement on our next hunt because you should never brag on your dogs. :'(
