This was the best one I owned. She got her back leg crippled up & I gave her to a friend for a yard dog.
1/2 cur & 1/2 rednose 45 pounds. Completely stock & trash broke. Wind, trail, and catch any hog she got on and lock like a vise. When you throw the hog she will relay & go catch another one. I use to hunt her by herself a lot and put a lot of pork on the ground. ( Not bad for a imitator)

I've got a young AB and have only hunted him a couple times and it's taken alot of work but he caught hard last time in the woods. I'm in the same boat as other folks, girlfriend doesn't want a pit and neither does my insurance so I had to substitute!

I just got a AB/Cat/BMC. She is showing tremendous prey drive and when we play with a towel or something, she has a very strong hold already at 9 weeks old! She is lean and very muscular and weighs 15lbs already. I would imagine she would make a great rcd, but she will not be hunting. Instead she will be my hiking partner and protector when backpacking in the mountains.

Standard poodle is a dead game catch dog as well if you ever see one dont make the mistake of underestimating them, we used to get them from pounds when out of dogs to hunt and if they are clipped they love to fight and catch hogs, they dont bark much but will darn sure hunt, dont forget they were bred for hunting and reteiving duck and game from rivers in europe, i had one over 75 pounds and am not ashamed, it was not pink but he was a good grain feild or stock tank hog dog in a pack, he loved to swin out to a hog no matter what kind of water, he got to hot and dropped dead in a grain feild one night when we caught hogs and hogs, he was dead game to the end.

German shepards, old time American Black and tan Farm Shepard also will catch and dead game with the right strain as well, both will bark a lil not much, i had a 1/2 pit 1/2 German shepard that i knew i was screwed on when i got delivery of him, turned out as usuall i judged the dog on what i had heard not what he could do, he regualrly would strike solo and stay bayed until daylight, if i could not climb up a tree to hear him or ride a mule to him he would come in to the cast box, sometimes he would lead me back to where he had killed hog in the stock tank or chewed ones nuts off so bad it was laying down next to a oak tree trying to recoup. He was killed by of all things a sorry awrse javilaina when he stuck his head insde a 55 deer feeder barrel the jav was inside, he got a tiny jav tusy in the jugular vein and bled to death on my back as i carried him back to the truck to try to clamp his blood loss off, i still get sick and tearly when i remeer his warm blood running down my back and butt as we was fighting to live, we had 7 of the Guerra Brothers from Berclair that night with us and we could hear this dog figting but it was so weirdo muffled in the barrel and the wind was blowing he stayed in it too long and darn javalina weighting 25 pounds killed him after 4 years in my pack doging the roll of the dice death by tusk from a big feral russian hog. Takes a lot out of you when stuff like that happens. That made me get mad and buy 5 more mules so everybody could ride and hunt at night to get to the dogs faster and catch more hogs and have more fun...

I would hunt a standard poodle and put a pink bow on it! Let them laugh when the dog with a pink bow is holding that hog like a champ.
BTW my next catch dog will be named Fifi. Tell people I will bring Fifi to catch them hogs! I could care less about the name, I only care about the hunt! I will put a pink bow on her just for fun.
Kinda like when I had my sister beat up a kid that wanted to fight. When he was on the ground crying she told him to suck it up because she hit like a girl.
We played a little rougher in our house!
