maan with all this heat it is gettin tough to catch a pig in my neck of the woods, might be all the new comers to the sport(dont get me wrong ,like to see newbies,)learnin the hogs how to run faster with potlickers that cant shut em down,or dont know how.but we managed to sneek up on a little boar sunday night and let the bulldogs get reaquainted with hogs ears.
took about 2 hours and several broke bays but tipped and tied.
its rough on an old fat fart goin in with out a light to SHOW the younguns where the dogs were bayin the hog.LOL. loaned all the the extra lights and MINE to em ,but i did manage to walk in on an old 2 track that i could feeel just to show i can still get to a bay. caught him about 12 am and had to get up at  6 to go get him out of the creek so we wouldnt disturb the farmers sleep, and he was still lookin at me withsleep in his eyes wonderin what the heck i was talkin about."get a what out of where"thought all farmers got up with the chickens.but he snapped a few pics of the boar after we got him back to his house and told us we more than welcome after gun season is over ,to as many as we can muster up.
went back out last night and bayed and run hogs for 4 1/2 hours over3 miles back up and down the creek til we couldnt stand no more.everytime we would get within a couple 100 yds it would break and then we would have to find a new way to get to em.2 hours of sleep before we all had to be at work and no hog makes for a long a$$$ dayat work

You're right about the dogs. We were talking about that the other night on a hunt. All the dogs you see for sale for hundreds of dollars... thats seen or caught a hog in a pen once or twice!  Huh?

We figured ours must be worth thousands if thats what the market is!   Shocked

Nice hog! Grin

I can understand the idea of raising and training your own dogs -  and the gratification you'd feel when those dogs turn out right. What I have an issue with is dealing with those crazy pups until they are ready to start. We have two pups from our gritty, suicidal plott dog who are just maniacs. Don't get me wrong - they are good looking, high energy pups. I have the highest hopes for them, but for now they are just all over the place. We have raised the Dusti dog from 10 weeks old, and she will be ready to hit the woods as soon as she has some one on one time with the neighbors' cattle (trash breaking if needed). It feels like we fed these dogs FOREVER and are just now getting to see some reward. What I'd like to have is someone who would raise our future pups until they are ready to start  :Smiley   Any takers?
