Now all of y'all from up north, don't laugh at us because we never get to do this. Grin

I met Chris, Mandi, Sean and Jason(jml) after work this eveing east of Houston in Crosby. We were having dinner, looked outside and the snow started coming down. So, we headed to the ranch saying we're either die-hard or just crazy. The snow slacked off when we got there but the wind was howling. We turned the dogs loose and started riding around the pasture. Within 5 minutes they opened up on a group of hogs and caught a big sow out of it. The dogs rolled out and the snow started pouring down. A little while later they bayed again in a thick block of woods. We headed to them, cut Tyson and Apache loose and caught another big spotted sow. The dogs rolled out again and my new dog Bobo caught a small boar shoat. The snow kept on coming and by the time we got back to the mule it was covered in it. We made a loop around the lakes and decided to call it a night. It snowed the whole three hours we were out there and it was piled up several inches on the ground, trees and the trucks. Good friends, good dogs and good hogs... this will be one of my most memorable hunts.

Nice one fellas!  I was looking at the radar and could see that snow just sitting on that side of town, glad that it started sticking enough to make it pretty to look at.  I have been around snow only a few times in my life and it was all up in the southern panhandle of Texas but it is really neat to see and I can only imagine that the dogs could use the moisture on the ground to their advantage.  I love to catch hogs but last night fell into the "too cold to hunt" category hahaha.

Marshall,

If you have any others like Bobo....let me know. I like the heck out of that dog, only hunted with him twice, but he will sure get one stopped in a hurry, and definitely has some lungs on him.

Marshall, so far I like what I see. He runs great with my lead dog, always stays busy, has a good nose and a lot of bottom. He's a little on the gritty side, but that may change with age.

Des, he's a catahoula/mt. cur cross... right at a year old. I've been interested in a cross like this for a while now, so I couldn't pass on him.

Mike yea he is guna become a really nice dog this year! Those pups outta that dog are always a lil gritty at first but calm down with age. They are all very smart too. Keep up the good work man!

Brent, yea that is the same dog i told you about that time. Seee, that coulda been you! ha

Chris, I always have several prospects like him. I have some REALLY good yellow pups right now but am prob guna keep them for a while. BoBo's dad is my lead dog and has prob over 200 puppies. MOST of them have made very solid dogs.  If you have a nice gyp he is a proven stud.

Thats cool!,   i love hunting after a real heavy snow, cause every track you see is really fresh.
i have tracked a group to there beds before in the snow.last winter it was 10 degrees on a couple of mornings when we headed out horseback. seems like its alot warmer after catching a hog.
             nice hogs too.

Here are some more snow pictures...

About this time, I am thinking that I should have purchased a windshield for the mule

Back at the trucks

Once we finally made it home, this was the snow accumulation, we live 2.1 miles from the bay. I never would have imagined the snow would have stuck.
