We have a great hunt tonight, Ross and I took my German spear hunter out for another go at a good boar. Its still cold but the wind layed and we headed out at 4:00. We scouted and looked for sign and were coming up short, so we set up at the bottom of some wheat fields and glassed for an hour and a half. A nice Boar walked out on the wheat a half mile away and he looked pretty good.

I was carrying Adora, Curly and Blondie to catch and had Spook as the single strike dog. We put Adora and Curly on the leash and started to the boar. We had to get around to the other side of the field to set the dogs up for a good chance. Spook was off in the brush hunting when the Boar got smart and trotted for the cover. Adora had spotted him and I sent her and Curly from 250 yds with Spook and Blondie already working that way.

The Boar pulled up in a little bottom off in the brush and Spook got the track worked out and let out a couple of barks when I heard Blondie hit up her first good boar. She got two good pokes but Curly was quick to help her and Adora came in to anchor. My hunter got in position and waited for a good shot with the spear and made a good hit. He was very excited to get to use his spear on a good boar.

Blondie is a Dogo Catahoula female that turned one year old this week, it was a good night for her.

Thanks,
Paul T

Paul,

Great pics and good boar.  If you get a chance, would you mind showing a full front picture of Curly in the red breast plate?  I have one of the original L3 breast plates, but it rubs the front of my dog's legs raw.  I'd like to see how yours fits in the front if you don't mind.

Thanks,
Jeff
