I picked up a ybmc at my deer lease the other day. He was about starved to death so I picked him up and brought him home. He had no identification on at all. I wormed and put a little weight on him and decided to take him hunting. He did great for about the first 20 minutes and then his backend was giving out on him. Like he couldn't support hisself. I let him rest for about 2 weeks and took him back out Friday. Same thing. He can walk fine but when he runs a little bit his backend gives out on him. Have y'all had this problem? Is this hip displacia or maybe he needs some vitamins? I like the dog a lot and sure would hate to have to get rid of him because I cant keep a dog that has a problem hunting. Any comments will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog... A hunting dog is born not made...

If you get a diagnosis send me a pm. If the vet reccomends steroid type drugs and pain pills some adjustments will fix him right up. If its dysplasia depending on the severity I can make a reccomendation or two. I am an equine chiropractor (when not working on people) and have seen some amazing things with dogs just like horses when needed

I have a dogo that is five years old and she has a similar problem. I assumed it is hip dysplasia as well. She drags her back end as she gets up after laying down for a while. Or if she runs or walks a lot she will either lay down or really start to favor her back end and change her walk. Not trying to hijack ur thread but if make em squeal has some suggestions I would definitely like to hear them.

When he runs , does he have a normal gait or does he "bunny hop" , both back legs moving together. Most dysplastic dogs i've seen do that. Can he jump up on a fence , ,,,,get up on his back legs? I'd xray him and then you'll know for sure. Good luck

Thanks for all of the advise. I am going to call the vet and see how much an x ray will cost. I really think he may have been a abused or possibly been ran over at some point and that why they dumped him out. He has heart that's why I would really hate to get rid of him. I will let y'all know. Thanks for all of the advise. We caught a hog with him Friday and he was right their with the A team that's why I wanna try and see what's wrong withhim cause I know he could make a good dog

If u have A good x-rayer at your vets, where they can just hold em still while they take a picture , u mite get out for 30-50$$$, but if they have to knock him out , they'll double the charges.good luck, everyone roots for the underdog and it sounds like he's one of those types. Or maybe i should say he sounds like an over acheiver!

Prob got bad bruize, get some greyhound steriods from soembody and shoot him up and swim him in water trough and build him back up, hope this helps, dont give up unless xray shows a fracture or something, we had 2 or 3 like this and used the steriods to reduce inflamtion, of course feed the heck outta him get a heat pard to sleep on might help and spray him with water hose on his butt an dback to get blood flowing, you can also go to walmart and get a cheap vivbrator and use it on him 2 or 3 times a day as well, please no coments about the walmart tool!!!lol

Thanks for all the comments. I called the vet and they said it will be about $45 to xray so I might take him up their tomorrow and let them look at it. I will also try the other methods as well.
