Just wondering If anyone has ever done any hare coursing ? I ran across some guy's coursing out by matagor one time they were running grey hounds, it was kinda cool if ya like skinny fast dogs, the hogs gone wild, site hunting with the "boar hound" and spot light reminded me of it..

I use my greyhound on jackrabbits when she isn't hunting hogs. We spotlight the jacks and "release the hound". It really does take some coordination to keep the light on the rabbit, because once the light is off the rabbit the greyhound is coming back to the mule. We don't let the greyhound run the rabbit too long before we kill the light and go in search of another rabbit. It is a lot of fun.

This was about 15-18 years ago the guy's we seen were on horse's and it was daylite,, it was cool, those greyhound's cound flat haul butt,, about the time they would get out of site they would turn the rabbit around and head back,, do that about 3-4 times, then catch the rabbit.. I wouldn't mine seeing it again I think I would appreciate it more now....

I would agree that it would be interesting. I am going on my first coon hunt tonight, would love to see more types of dog hunting become more popular again

Grey hounds love to sight chase jacks at nite, u have to have some way to get close where the dogs can see the jack then keep the light on him so they can close the gap, it does not take long ether if they are greys off track like used to get for free at Corpus when we had a track. We caugth about 20 one night with 8 grays and 2 wolves aka yotes, the yotes heard al of the jack squealing and came right up to the grayhounds and another race was on, its tons of fun until the grayhound hit bobwire fence, you need to look for a 500 acre oat patch where u can run at night to really hammer them, you can blow a coon or baby wabbit squealer to in a huge feild and usually get a dumb yote to come to the call and then hit some KC daylighters and have a pard run spotlight on them, they are crazy as heck and ever time they make a lose they are snatching as they go by, its awesome to hear grayhounds mouths snapping as they try to make a recovery in mid air, they so crazy they kill themesleves in wrecks it you get to close to fence or something, they thinking only about the rabbits neck and how sweet it will be when they wrap they toofys around itlol Everybody need to do this hunting one time for sure, look for a racetrack and get free dogs to run rabbits and hogs too!!!

When Mandi's greyhound gets near a fenceline, we just turn off the spotlight, as soon as the lights out, she stops pursuit.

Yeppers you got to realy watch fences for sure, weird how they are true sight hounds on rbbits, I hunted them in grainfeilds when we had all the dogs cut down and caught hogs but they prob was no bark just hog squealing, kinda crazy now thinking about going to corn stalks shaking thinking its a small hog and find dog killer hooked up with 6 grayhounds all over it, we need to find a big feild to film a hunt, people flip out seeing how gamey they re when on a jack for sure, they worse than a rat terrier on a rat seems like to me, i sure loved them.

My greyhound is my favorite hunting dog that I own or have ever hunted behind. She is a novelty for sure, but the fun can't be matched. She is so cheap to feed, too! Cheers M
