I had a good friend, Jeff, fly in from Kentucky for a hunt. So Jeff Ross and I made a circle this after noon with two Stags and Adora as back up. We got on two sets of pigs and caught two small boars. The dogs got smoked on a real nice boar but we had a great day. Got some good pics and I got to test out the new knife that my German hunter from last week sent me.

Thanks,
Paul T

Love those sight hounds! I can sure see where your country would be perfect for them with those wide open spaces. I bet those races are a thing to see. Mine gets on races, but if she gets to run 500 yards across a pasture, that's a long run for her. We just don't have the wide open. Do your stags hunt on the ground loose or riding on the buggy? Hunted foxxy loose this weekend and she wore down and just walked over and gave up. She was right behind me on my horse, and decided she needed a nap right then. Mike and Larry had to go pick her up on the gator. She is used to riding the buggy, as greyhounds have no stamina. Hunting loose was hard on her. I think those stags are supposed to have the stamina the greyhound lacks.

The Stags do have the stamina to travel and they do go hunt and have been using their noses on a hot track. They are deadly in the open ground but have proven to handle the brush and breaks very well, now a good tight 6 strand fence at speed is another matter.  Grin

Fences and cattle guards scare me. I thought Foxxy was going to be a dead dog this weekend when she ran up on a cattle guard. She saw it THANK GOD and swerved to go through the gate instead. Holy Cow that was a scary moment.
