have a 16month old full blood american bulldog looking to breed him. He has never been on a live hog, but sure does hate dead ones! Gonna put him on a hog pretty quick, but pretty sure he has it in him. He is our family pet, very good with kids, other dogs and cats. Very protective of his family but is friendly with everyone. Have pics if you are interested. He is mostly white, with brindle on his ears. Let me know if you have him a girlfriend..

Just my opinion, but I think he needs to be proven in the woods for a while. See how his style, speed, stamina, ect is before you breed. You may take him out and he ends up great, or you may take him out and get on a big one and he bays, or gets knocked around and currs out. You will also have better luck finding him a quality mate when he has a bunch of solid catches under his belt. Most people dont want their proven gyp caryin pups out of an unproven dog.

Im not saying this to offend you, im saying this to help support bully breeds. There is too many bully bred dogs out there that dont have a home, to be breeding an unproven dog.

No offense taken by no means..I am new to hog dog thing, Not sure if I want to get him out there. He is the Family pet, like right now he is laying up on his pillow in front of the fire place. LOL But he does get all excited about the dead ones in the truck, actually drug about 200lbs hog out of the back of truck by his head. I am not wanting to charge a stud fee just would like to pass this blood line down. Not sure if it means anything but he is from Relentless Kennels. Thank you for your advice I truly do appreciate any info.

I understand where your coming from, my dogo sleeps with me every night haha. But, if you find out your bully is a cull (when it comes to hog hunting, not as a family pet) you probably wont want to pass his blood on, especially if you are breeding for cd. Im assuming he would be a lead in cd, it shouldnt be too hard to get him some good gear and let him go from close with another dog to keep him fairly safe. He will learn from his experiences and most likely turn into a good dog. That is what I would do if I was in your position. My dogo, i hunt him every way possible every chance I get. I cut him loose from way out, hunt him on the ground, lead him in, pretty much everything. Thats what I expect from him and I would never breed him if he didnt live up to my expectations. If he didnt, he would just be a house dog and those gonads would be taken away from him.

Its just real important, in my opinion, to prove dogs before breeding. Especially bull breeds, with the surplus running around.

Tcolt hit the nail on the head there.

a few years ago i had my catch dog killed who was also my family pet  , best friend and my kids best friend.
worst part was having to tell the little ones that the dog isnt coming home.
