Wife got tied up so I had ta break off early and pick the kiddo
up from pre-K... givin' me an opportunity ta make a weekday evening hunt in the fading light...

Had a local ranch pesterin' me lately to catch some hogs off 'been eaten a lot of deer feed... only problem is, the place is one big-0l-briar patch!!!  Shocked Grin

But anyways... cast Shine an' Lee's Camo dog out and they jumped after a few minutes down by a creek... a thousand yds later, Shine is off the property in the middle of a lake by herself.... as far as the Garmin says...   Shocked Grin Undecided

We head her way and see her run back past us down into a baaaad booger hole of a bay head and bay up... Undecided  .... In we go...

Start ta get close... walkin' over blowed down tree trunks with CD in tow in the pitch dark.... Get to within 12yds(per Garmin   ) and break my own rule(not knowing what I'm turning a CD into...).... turn A.J. loose and she can't figure how ta get into the cave that Shine has got this hog bayed in... I finally crawl up on the hill and look down and over the edge of this blowdown-cave just as A.J. figures out how ta get in... thank GOD it was a small hag... or it coulda been bad.....

Good mid-week hunt to harden the dogs... happy to get out with no injuries...  Wink

Me an' the Shine deep in the blow down cave... 15'+ to where she caught hog... again... dang good thing it wasn't a bad one...

Blow down cave is a turned over root system of a big tree... some of them form some real nasty hog dens... bad places to send a catch dog into if it a big hog... no room for the dogs to work and hard to get in to help them

I try not to send a CD into one knowingly, either rope the hog or goose him out

Noah,
You may be my youngest hero! I like your style young man. One day when you make it to Texas, make sure to look me up. This year I have not caught any big boys yet, but just enough to keep the youngsters going. Take care brother and one day our paths will cross....

npoah man your shine has really stepped up this season, looks alot bvlike you ellie dog more to me just keep on putting her in the hog and i think she may achive what your ellie did and maybe more. also i would be interestd in taking a pup off your hand on one of your breeding if thats ever possible? mAybe next breed cause it sounds like you hacve a bad taste in your mouth from you buddy taking two and not hunting them, or snapper would also be fine one to have if your pups start hunting? i know its a long shot so breed her again and let me know. you keep tearing them up i been following a while on here and sounds like your moving in the right direction. you may want to consider crossing a good hund in you blood one down the line not a blue tick but i know a guy that has a jam up bear dog stud that would prob make a good cross he has a long line of hunting dogs in his blood. pm me if your interested if not def dont cross a bluetick maybe a plott i also now some good plots to cross on that have alot of hunt

Shiner is shinin....

Thanks yall, I held that dog back after I lost my lead gyp Ellie... defenitely was hard to do, but now that I got some good pups off her... time to poor the hogs to her and see what she can do  Grin  ...So far, she ain't lettin' me down!!!  Cheesy

Got to see her and her daughter Spinner work a palmetto patch together this wknd... almost brought a tear to my eye how similar the two are... Spinner moves through the palmettos like a rabbit through a briar patch... you wouldn't even know she was in there until she comes flitting out.... just like her momma....

geronimo... I'll keep ya in mind when I decide ta breed her again!
