Shayne, where are you from? You might not have to drive all the way to Texas... we have members on here from all over the Southern States.

Sir, I live in Helena, AL but I'm originally from Lexington, KY. I'd like to find ppl closer I really want to start hog hunting. I have most of the equipment already from coon hunting 20volt light, garmin, good looking lil pup with lots of potential. If ppl are worried that I'm inexperienced it's true for hog hunting but I was raised on a farm and I've been wrestling cows and pigs since I was five. I been hunting since my pappy carried me on his shoulder through the hills. I won't quit on nothing and I hunt hard I'll be the best hunting partner I can be I just need some help getting started. I'll be respectful of the land and persons I meet. Thanks to everyone for the p.m's I have returned the ones I have read.

I wouldn't put her on a hog until at least 1 year old, let her teeth set in good. Teeth are priceless on a good catch dog

What about just on a lil 40-80 lbs. hog. I mean that what a few old timers told me to do was take em out on a lead in and if it was a small hog let her catch 6-9 months. I'm no expert thats why I'm on here but thats what they told me.

X2 X3 and X4 Bust the teeth out and it is worthless. Wait another six months just to be sure. Don't take chances with a catch dog's teeth.

Ok well I'll wait. She's my pet too I don't want her having a busted grill.

Next question folks, say my dog has caught and she is new and never caught before how do I praise her and what is a break stick and how do I use it? I will clarify more dig is hanging on hogs ear do I pet her while she is locked on and tell her good girl or do I wait till hog is down and I have broke her off?
