Hello Fellow Doggers,
Took my dog to the Vet to get his ears cropped and they said my pup has CRYPTORCHIDISM, which I had no idea what that meant until they told me that it is  a retained testicle. They said one testicle dropped but the other did not and I should consider neutering due to the fact that it could cause some medical issues down the road. They said that they could remove the testicle that has not descended or both. The question I have for yall is if i neuter the dog will it loose his drive to hunt and aggression. I'm going to use him as a catch dog.

Cut him and you will never regret it.   Both of our catch dogs are neutered, and it hasn't affected their drive.

My grandpa told me one time that cutting can make a good dog great.  Less distractions and more focus on the job.  I've got several spayed and nuetered dogs and I haven't regretted it a bit.

I've never neutered or spayed a dog, but one of my hunting buddies has a gyp he spayed last year and she's twice the dog she used to be. He used to have a pitxbmc dog that was cut too and he was the best dog they've ever owned and one of the best I've ever hunted with. He had more drive than most dogs.

Most of my male dogs are neutered , stops the pissen matches  and they hit the ground hunting. I do it the old fashioned way , hog tie and castrate. Haven’t  lost one yet . Oh yeah duct tape mouth!!! Hunt’UM UP!!!!

my vet does it for about 75 bucks I think.  Only way to go as far as I'm concerned.  If I remember right it's about  10-14 days and then back to hunting.

Redtick, just wondering the Ace dosage.  My research tells me .05 to .1 ml per lb, up to 3 mg max.  Just wondering what works for you.

I agree denutting them isn't going to effect the hunt, but what if you want to breed them down the road?

I get ours done for about $50 in Houston. That includes the pain meds that I never use.

If they are sterilized for a medical reason or because of something they do (fighting, stopping to pee on every bush, constant humping) instead of hunting, were they really breeding stock anyway?
