This is Jada.  I took her in from a family down the road that needed to find her a good home.  She has turned into an AWESOME catch dog.  She had caught some small hogs, but with no real training, especially in the area of general manners - leading, loading, overall manners!  We've taken her on several hunts and after missing a couple times at first, she finally caught a sow weighing close to 300#s on the ear and she hasn't missed or caught anything but the ear since.  She has come leaps and bounds in her lead training and has the best attitude around people and dogs.  She is full Pit, fixed and weighs approx. 75#s.   I have been blessed to come across her and i think she probably feels the same, 'cause she LOVES catchin' hogs!  Pictured also below is a unique situation where all the hunting dogs had crossed the big creek on another hog.  While in route, a whole group of 25 or so hogs start filtering through the woods beside us and i tried her out as a 'one out' catch dog and she snagged this 150# sow on the ear like it wasn't nothin'.  And wanted to go after the rest of them when we broke her off  Grin

My Female:

1 yr, 10 months.  Has very little working time, but will grab a hog.  As of right now, she needs to be shown the bay before being released, gets sidetracked easily.  Has no manners at all, she whines a lot.  Working on the manners and training.

My Male:

He is much leggier than my female, gets to a bay quicker.  Not a lot of working time either, but so far has grabbed and held, except for very initial training.  So far, he can be let loose from a short distance and will go to bay without seeing it.  I havent tried releasing at a long distance yet, but I'm pretty sure he would go straight to bay at a long distance as well, will have to try. Has some manners, but stays "noisy" after the catch and will yip at hog if he sees it, working on the manners.

Like me, both are just starting, and we are learning as we go.  Thanks to everybody here for the helpful material that you all provide on a daily basis.  This site has been a great source for material, and good people who go out of their way to help, thanks to everybody!

The story I was told was he was on the back porch and someone opend the door and threw a pan of hot grease on him. I'm hoping it was a accident. But was told he got run over also. Who knows. He's a pretty good natured dog anyway and has a good home now.

man thats fulked up why would some body do that to a dog they orda been shot if it was on purpose when they poored that hot grease on him
