After a good Christmas supper my friends Buddy and Scooter Sherrill called to see if I wanted to make a run with them. Well I had a new catch dog I wanted to try out so I told them I would meet them at our hunting spot in about 15 min. When they got there I loaded my catch dog and my strike dog in their truck and we began to make our round. We turned all of our strike dogs out by a creek and hoped for the best, after about 30 min. of hunting we finally got into some action. A big boar ran out in front of us with the strike dogs right behind him, all three of us jumped out of the truck and a smaller boar ran into some thickets to our left. I told Buddy to cut the catch dogs loose, but he didn't hear me soon enough so I grabbed my catch dog spike and turned him loose towards to hog. Spike ran past him but made a quick U turn and went in for the catch. Spikes catch was good and solid, one of Scooter and Buddy's catch dog tigger went in a latched hold to make it even better. Scooter ran in with me right behind him, flipped the hog over while I held the lights and borrowed my knife to stick him. The boar weighed about 100 lbs, enough to make a good hunt and let me see my new catch dog work!!!
