Have a pit she will catch a hog... but she is aggresive with other dogs at times for no reason. I keep her in her own pin due to this and away from other dogs, I dont like a dog fight. Does or has anyone had this problem? Is it possible a training collar would stop this, or taking her in the woods getting use to the other dogs. Please help!!

Try anything and everything you can but sometimes the solution is as simple as an east Texas ear cleaning. I had a dog with a flaw that I couldn't seem to unlearn no matter what I did, but I wish you the best of luck.
One thing a bout e-collars on fighting dogs is that if you ain't REALLY good at reading body language, youll only escalate the intensity.

Shock collar might make it worse if she thinks the other dog bit her ,a chain leash an a good working over with it s few times might fix it

I lost a very expensive, and very good, silent trail dog to an aggressive female catch dog.
What's harder to find, a good trail dog or a good catch dog? If I had it to do over... easy choice.

I have a female the same way normally it is after a catch but it can surface anytime, had a male that way as well. I carry a role of electric tape or a muzzle around and I keep it on them until i send them. That way if they try it they cant sink teeth and I can stomp em without getting bit. It sounds cruel but its the best way I have found. Shock collars are a big NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as somebody already said they think its another dog biting them. I put the muzzle on them all the time only take it off for them to eat so they r as use to it as a collar. I use a hard plastic show sheep muzzle they can drink and breathe with it. I would muzzle her a few days and then let her run n the yard with other dogs with the muzzle keep a sorting stick handey and use it. I hope that helps.

cds are a dime a dozen dont chance it plus the dog might catch one of your friends dogs and that will lead to all kinds of problems

We had a female pit do that as well, unfortunatly the only way we got her to stop was not a very nice way. She only did it in or around the bay pen so we took one of our cable leads and wooped her and she learned to stop really fast. Now there is a differnce between wooping a dog and beating just make sure not to cross that line. Hope you can save her if you really like her, if not people are right, their are always more dog to train that arent animal aggressive.

I feel your pain. I did not want to cull a dog and I had to bury good dogs because of it. Do not put up with dog aggressiveness or it will cost you way more. Trying to be nice is not good at all. Cull that dog now!
Watch you males when a gyp goes into heat. That makes some males get aggressive. Even if the female is in a pen some males will want to fight. You have to stay on top of things to keep aggressiveness under control. But once they get aggressive they have to go.

Cull today, a dog that is worried about fighting isn't as focused as it should be about hunting. She can't do anything but cost you another dog and piece of mind.

With all the good catch dogs out there why mess with this one, For my self i would never knowing hunt with a dog like that for my sake because if i saw the dog jump on my dog well lest just say it should not happen. Sory but it is time to cull and for god sake dont breed her find a good line with a good disposition. All the time. JMO

My buddy learned first hand at not following the first signs of an aggressive cd.. He just kind of disciplined her every time and would hope that it would fix the problem,, well it did at the moment , but one day she got off her chain when he wasnt there and made it over to where my buddies #1 strike dog was.. A yard full of dogs and you guessed it, she had to pick this one.. Well after he made it home and discovered it ,, yeah he culled her but he couldnt bring back a 1,500 dollar find dog. There is no place for human or dog aggressiveness ,,,, Never...

Well I was thinkin it was a bad idea just thought I would get some opinions, she is my first dog I wont get rid of her shes too good to me. I just wont hunt her with other dogs... She was raised with 3 other pits and never had a prob. then I had a house fire had to move... She was I guess showing dominance at the new place and would fight the female and males occasionally. I got her fixed thought it might help but no, She is good with people its just at anytime she can fight another dog. She was also face barked by a border collie (not my dog) when she was in her kennel sometime ago I think this intensified this, but yea she is my first and I wont cull her but again I wont hunt her with others thanks for the help!!
