I have a commercial hunting opperation in Coalgate Oklahoma. We are thinking about hosting a big event containing a hog hunting tournament, a bay pen competition, vendor/buy and sale area, and a live concert. We wanted to get some feedback and input on peoples interest. Would like to hold the event in June.

I know the heat could be a factor. Just worried about getting advertising and everything in place earlier than June. Also trying to stimulate our summer slow times.

I should know some dates by the end of the weekend. Gonna do my best to see if we can pull it off in May. Just need time to advertise is the deal. That would still give us the whole month of April to promote and get ready.

I would definitely make it. If you could do some of the events of an evening the heat shouldn't be 2 horrible. Keep the info coming

Atoka held their bays in the evenings this summer and it wasn't to bad, not sure about a hunt but we will def. make it for the bay.  It's nice to have bays close to home.

2011 HAM JAM    Bowsafari Ranch Coalgate Oklahoma May 24th-28th            Ok guys here is the plan. I wanted to include a bay pen competition but I don't think I will have time to get that together unless someone has a portable pen setup that we can use or rent. I don't have time to build what we need to have a quality event like I want. Plus gathering enough good hogs in my area on this short of notice could be tough also.    But we do have an awesome event planned even if we don't get the bay pen figured out. Here is the event plan.     I have held a tree stand hog tournament for 3 years now and it is held in my high fence area. We will start this on May 24th. 10 entries per day for 4 days. $200 per entry and you can enter 1 or all 4 days if you want. The hunter that kills the hog weighing closest to the weight we choose the week before the contest will win. Prizes will be $cash$ and other items that we will also announce the week before the tournament ( example: guns, feeders, hunting gear,etc.). Other ways to win are daily $20 buy ins for a hog that has a certain color ear tag per day, winner gets $100 per day for that hog if all 10 guys buy in. Lots of fun. Then on Friday all dog hunt competitors will show up in person at the ranch by noon to enter in the competition. This is a 4 man $200 entry fee event. You will go to your hunting ground and hunt and return the following day (Saturday) by noon to weigh in your catch. There will be 2 first place prizes. Largest hog will pay $1000 cash, the team with the most hogs will also get a prize but it is not decided just yet.  Saturday is the main event. All day long fun. Starting that morning will be the Traders market which will be $20 a spot for anyone and/or vendors that want to buy /sell/or trade any dogs, hunting gear, mules, etc..., also we will have a BBQ competition, the Fetch and Fish 5000 gallon aquarium will be doing dog demonstrations for the whole family, the weigh-in for the dog hunting contest, a 3D archery competition, kids events, food and drink, the finals of the tree stand tournament, and Saturday evening will be a 2 band live concert featuring The Tildon Gilliam Band from Shreveport La. and another band from Oklahoma. Good ol country music. So bring your covered tent and umbrellas and a good lawn chair and hang out all day with us. More info coming soon!! Call 580-310-2721 Keith West
