The chain must be at least 10 ft. long and you must be sure that there is plenty of shade. Easy access to water and nothing that can entangle the dog. Also a place for the dog to get out of bad weather.

the city of texarkana tried to pull a slick 1 and not advertise the bill and was gonna do a midnite vote on it, but folks got wind of it and the city had to revise the bill before it could be voted on. where could a person find that law at if there really is a law in affect? they dont want us to keep them chained, but yet if they get onto some1 elses property and mauls a cow or horse or kid, then we look like the bad guy who didnt have the dog chained. its a damnd if you do and damnd if you dont. the couty my wife is speaking of is williamson county on the outskirts of florence.

We can all thank the smart ones ( and I see it in pics all the time on here and several timese when I gone and picked up a dog) who have more dogs than they can afford in a trailer park who don't take care of their dogs and keep them on chains and don't pick up dog sh**!  This is the reason this law came out so thank these ppl don't blame anyone else!  These ppl like to be associated with hog doggin but don't ever do it and just try to earn an extra income off of pups...

u know i dnt think it matters what u live in a trailer house a shotgun shack or in $150,000 house if u love ur dogs and u feed worm and house ur dogs to the best of ur ability, aint no man or woman should have the right to down grade and brow beat another man for his choices of containing his DOGS. atleast he tried!!!

what does picking up dog s**t and living in a trailer have to do with keeping a dog on a chain. it aint b/c they live in a trailer that laws like that are made, its other people thinking they know whats best for every1 and then forces their oppinion onto everybody. not every1 has the money to build a 5k, 10k or 15k to keep a dog/s and they live off the land and may live in a 1 rm house with 2 or 3 kids running around. atleast they know what it feels like to earn a living, if they didnt they would starve to death. i guess what is being said is, that if your poor you have no right to own a dog and should be told how to keep it as long as the richy rich get their way. i thought this was a country of the free. we have few freedoms anymore and are loosing what we do have to a bunch jackwads with money who would die off if the worlds economy come to an abrupt hault. it would be good riddens if they did die off.

Let me clarify for those who have miscounstrued what was being said and break this down for you so you can understand.  First off, I said I have picked up dogs numerous times not necessarily in a trailer park but at homes where the dog had been chained up, no water, no shelter, NOTHING but a chain and it took several months to earn the trust of these dogs and get their confidence up to where you could handle them without them thinking they were going to be beat them.  Not only were these dogs tied up but they were sitting in their own SH**...There isn't any reason for this...I didn't mention anything about anyones income or anything of the liking, only my experiences.  If you have a problem with someone voicing their opinion about how inhumane it is to chain a dog up with no food, water, or shelter, and sit in their own filth.  THEN Maybe someone should take you out and tie you up and put you in the same conditions and I bet you would a little different outlook on life.  YOUR RIGHT this is America and I served my country so I feel like I have the right to voice my opinion as well.  Have a good day.

What was the actual charge that the man was fined for? could have been many things, can't help if don't have all the information, thats very vague

As for the rest going back and fourth fussing ain't going to fix nothing, pointing fingers don't fix anything either.
Everybody wants to compain and not stand up for anything until a bill has been passed into a LAW, still it does not bother anybody until it affects YOU then you want to get upset and Say "NOBODY TOLD ME ABOUT IT".

THATS A DAMN SHAME, How many times have you signed onto this message Board? How Many Times have you told your story and read the "fun" stuff and looked at pictures?
BUT How many times did you read about the upcoming legislation? How many times did you contact your representative to voice your position on an upcoming bill?
Are you a registerd voter?

GET INVOLVED- JOIN LSWDA or other assoc. that watch and inform, and let you knopw when something might affect you, ALSO STAY AWARE of LAWS AND CITY  ISSUES IN YOUR COMMUNITY, ITS TEN TIMES HARDER TO REVERESE SOMETHING ONCE IT HAS GONE INTO EFFECT.

I try to obey Gods Laws & I love my family. This is a great country, BEST IN THE WORLD. With the amount of laws & the way the laws are being passed I cant keep up with whats legal or not. Its like your not free to practice freedom. I'm sure I brake several laws a day without even knowing! I've been legislated into an outlaw & didnt even know it (lol).

the county i live in, the chain has to be five times the length of the dog. what makes me mad is my 2 nabors leave there dogs running loose all the time and animal control hasnt said any thing. but u can bet one of mine gets loose and it will cost me. all my dogs are on chains and the square ft adds up to 150 square foot round circle . animal control told me as long as the dogs have clean water and good shade and they look good were not going to bother any one.

uglydog your 100% right how can u voice an opinion on something u did`nt care enough about to support, and stand behind! But why would u purchase a dog from enviroment such as those conditions and then talk so much smack about it? i would never supported a low life like that in the first place! If the dogs were in such poor conditions why was`nt something done for them? INSTEAD of bashing them on the WWW.? all im sayen is atleast some ppl care enough for there dogs that they contain them by the best way they can, it may not be up to everyones likens but atleast there dogs were not terrorizing everyone else.

Don't get on here and post about how it's okay to keep dogs in horrible conditions and try to say it's okay!  Your barking up the wrong tree partner!

Whats the difference in keeping a dog in a 5X10 kennel vs. having a dog on an 8' chain.  8' of chaing gives the dog 16' of an area from one end to another.  I am pretty sure there are dogs living in kennels that are in the same crappy conditions as dogs on chains.  They should look at the over all condition of the dog, not how it is contained.

Dogs are mens best friend and do great jobs of helping us in any type of work we may need them to. The least we can do is give them THE BEST POSSIBLE DOG LIFE, and be fair with them.
