01/03/09 Hunt

Went out this morning to a place that is mostly switch-grass. We cut the dogs out and all the dogs came back in except two(My dog mud and my buddy's dog gretchin). They had been gone for about 15-20 minutes, so we pulled out the tracking system and got a direction. We headed that way and stopped to listen when we thought we might be close to where they possibly were. As soon as we stopped we heard a solid bay and the other dogs had already left out. I sent the bulldogs in right where we stopped and as soon as we heard the catch, we booked it over there and got the hog legged and tied.(I'd guess he weighed at least 250lbs) My buddy's strike dog took a bad cut in the ribs and it sounded like he was breathing out of it. We got everything loaded and headed straight to the vet. The vet said the dog would have surely died from a collapsed lung if we wouldnt have brought him in. It would have been a bad loss because that is a pretty dang good dog. As of right now it looks like everything is fine but the dog has to stay till Monday. My american bulldog catchdog took a couple of cuts but nothing too serious. Here are some pics............

The brindle dog is out of my buddy's stock. He is Cur/Catahoula and a little pit.
