I just came from looking for a dog with a GPS DC-30 collar on. The hog broke the wire in the collar the dog went off the GPS unit but we found the dog. It looks like the wire from signal unit that sends the signal to the satillite to the part that sends the signal to your hand held part.The collar was not torn apart and no wires exposed but it dead as heck. Just FYI

I had my second opportunity to hunt with one today and it was pretty neet, but stuff just like that is why I am not sold on them. With my old radio stuff, if the collar quits there isnt much use looking for the dog. A train or jumbo jet or something along those lines has hit him. Glad you were able to recover your dog.  |

I agree I was considering buying the Garmin. But even with the improved dc-30, the collar is no where near as sturdy and well built as the traditional radio collars. 200 bucks per collar is too much money for to little quality. In my opinion.

We've had plenty of luck with ours!!! We've had measurements up to 2.4 miles this weekend on dogs. (With the long range antenna). It was also nice to see how far the dogs ran... 14-16 miles... It allows us to go straight to the hogs. We caught 18 on a 6000 acre cattle ranch this weekend. Its been awesome so far!!!! This hunt was on the Thigpen Ranch near Buffalo

TRORYTAKERS he was and still happy with his this is like I said FYI the dog was off the GPS and thats almost unheard of with a regular collar like MIke said his dog got hit by a train and it still worked from feed back hopefully the info we sent garmin they will be able to correct the problem the collar is 22 days old.I am glad you haven't lost a dog they are neat but they are 2nd generation already and they will get better as they go we hope.
