Our usual bunch met at daylight this morning for our first hunt of the year. We were also joined by AaronBMC and Mandi's parents. Got a decent red boar boar while we were looking for a calf the rancher wanted caught. Didn't find the calf so kept on hunting. A little while later we got on a race that sent Lizzie and Tweetie about a mile south. Saw some good size tracks and headed that way. They ended up coming off on a shoat and catching it. ![Angry](http://www.easttexashogdoggers.com/forum/Smileys/default/angry.gif) Headed back to pick up the red boar and we found the calf. After chasing it through three pastures, Chris called the rancher and he said "Send a bulldog to it!"... so Tyson got to go "one out" on a calf. Caught the ear and didn't put a mark on it. Got the calf moved with the others and called it a day. Clifford and Tyson caught. ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v311/DEERHUNTER280/1-04-09I.jpg) Stacy, Aaron and his new pit puppy. ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v311/DEERHUNTER280/1-04-09II.jpg) Mandi's dad and Aaron with the calf. ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v311/DEERHUNTER280/1-04-09III.jpg) This is something you don't see everyday... a load of pork and beef. ![Grin](http://www.easttexashogdoggers.com/forum/Smileys/default/grin.gif) ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v311/DEERHUNTER280/1-04-09IV.jpg) Smiley, Reeses, Tweety and Clifford. ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v311/DEERHUNTER280/1-04-09V.jpg)

I had a great time guys and gals. I sure wish we had video of Tyson running down the calf, definitely not something you get to see everyday. Still running 100% on this property, the place is going to spoil us ![Grin](http://www.easttexashogdoggers.com/forum/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

Good lookin catch ![Smiley](http://www.easttexashogdoggers.com/forum/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Haven't had my bulldogs on cattle...but, I've had one try his best to catch a couple of horses. ![Wink](http://www.easttexashogdoggers.com/forum/Smileys/default/wink.gif) The horses came out with a cut or two and the bulldog got stomped a few times before we could catch him up...none were really worse for wear.

Bryant, 75% of the hogs I've caught the past few years are "city hogs"... it's a rough job, but somebody's gotta do it. ![Grin](http://www.easttexashogdoggers.com/forum/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Logan... Tyson is than Clifford, it's just the camera angle.

good job guys, love the picture with the pork and beef, and the picture with all the dogs and clifford (that dog looks huge)
Have any of yall ever tried to break a bulldog on catching livestock? Can it even be done on a full blood bully breed? I had an incident that has caused me personally to never use an RCD again, caused my bulldog to have a heatstroke, (in freakin december) still dont know the vet bill on the horse, and it almost caused me to quit hunting all together.
The dog had been around horses before but never paid them any attention. I know that's not an excuse but the fact I didn't know there was livestock on the next property is, lol

Logan, Clifford is considerably larger than Tyson. I have never had Tyson on a scale, but I would guess him to be in the 75-80# range. Breeds - Clifford is Cat x AB, been on more hogs than I care to count, and pretty well has things figured out. Tyson is a junk yard dog, maybe been on 50 hogs this year if I had to guess, no finesse whatsoever, he just hits the bay catching where he can, ear, snout, leg, etc. Bryant, Still looking for your phone out there so I can Ebay it ![Wink](http://www.easttexashogdoggers.com/forum/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Now that deer season is over, you might see some pictures of us without street lights and houses in the background. Mandi's dad has a big diesel pusher, maybe he will let us use it as a mobile hunting cabin. ![Grin](http://www.easttexashogdoggers.com/forum/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

The way you guys have been knocking the hogs out of that place, I would almost hate to go somewhere else and change your luck! That's been a sweet "deer season" place for you all.
I had one of those places this year also, but I think mine dried up two weeks ago. Just in time to do something different!

On bulldogs and horses....
Tyson has been "horse proofed" and knows better than to take a taste of horseflesh. He's even had horses pestering him while he was chained in the truck and all he could think about was getting as far away as possible. Cattle, he's never been broken from just because we've never done it. That said, we don't let Tyson run loose with horses or other livestock just because you never know when something might happen.
I've met plenty of trash broke bulldogs though that could run with livestock. Krystal's catch dogs (all of them, I believe) are just fine with horses whether running loose or on leashes. Our friend Cody has a pit that is a wonderdog or something. He goes horseback with the pit on a long lead. Occasionally the pit is off leash but he certainly knows the difference between livestock and hogs. That dog doesn't have a problem keeping up with the horses, and doesn't seem to overheat. He's also an older dog. Tim Nichol has a trash broke pit. I'm not sure if he uses him as a lead in or an RCD, but every time we ever hunted behind that dog back in the day he was loose.
Cheers M
