Dang id be hard pressed to pay even half that for an 18month old pup, but if they are what you say they are, they must be the best dang dogs in the world at 4 or 5 when they mature
If finished means: as good as it's gonna get. They aint gonna get any better with age... Scott im not sure how to take this post.. A it could mean his dogs are finished (as good as they are gonna get ever) or B you dont think dogs get better with age.. I know which one i think your talking bout but not real sure..lol

I figure I will keep my opinion out of this. I have posted before about what I think of finished dog sellers. But I am wrong all the time. All the bull $h!t stops when it flops on the dock. You get the dogs and people will pay $1000 for them and you will sell them without any problem. But make big claims and they don't measure up nobody will want them. better to under promise and over deliver. You may have one that is the best anyone ever saw but that is to big of a claim. You just get them hunting consistent and completely trash broke. Then you will have people beating down your door. But a dog that hunts better than any dog ever but trashes is worthless to many hunters. You get both and you have a dog that people want.

I have seen pups at a year old that are not totally broke off of trash but are top prospects. At 18 months I have seen pups that you know can be put down with anyones dogs and not look bad.

I would like to come hunt with your older dogs and see how they do you got to have some dam good dogs to train young dogs and put that much pork on the ground and finish them out at 18 months not saying it cant be done because i have done it and i know what it takes and it takes many hours in the woods with some honest hard hunting dogs

Like I mentioned earlier,If you have an 18 month old that is 100% finished you should hold on to that dog because it will be worth alot more than a $1000.
I have a cat pup thats 11 months and will burn the woods up and has found plenty hogs by himself but he is not 100% finished. He still has plenty of learning to do. I could probably sell him now for plenty, but I want to see what he can become in a few years. I own 4 strike dogs that are finished youngest 7 oldest 13. You can 100% count on anyone of these dogs.
I don't own or ever have seen a finished dog at 18 months, and I've been chasing pigs for 24 yrs.
In my eyes dogs are alot like horses,Show me a 2 or 3 yr old roping horse thats finished? You might be able to catch off that horse but that horse is'nt finished and in a tight situation they will probably leave you hanging. Until they are 10++++++yrs old I would never call them a finished horse.
Just my 2 cents for what its worth.

After close to 20 years of breeding I had 18 month old pups that could hunt with anyones dogs not necessarily broke but well started. I sold out in 2007 but am trying to get going again. I have poop eaters right now so in a year I am hoping to be on track with some decent pups.
I would rather pay 1000 or 1500 dollars for a pup at 12 months or 18 months that are the kind I am talking about than a 4 year old finished dog that is topped out and a decent hog dog that is straight.
I would rather have that pup that reaches a higher standard of excellence and at 18 months should be almost finished.

If she died at nine months from being to ruff, I would definitely call her finished.
