I use the Orhto and it works good and doesnt cantain the fertilizer! I put 30ml from base of tail to neck making sure to rub it in all the way to the skin(I wouldnt put as much if used on a smaller dog) Just reapply it after you see them start scratchin again. Once a month should do the trick!

Its a liqiud that comes ready to hook up to your hose. You can just spray where the dogs are and in and around their houses to keep em off a little better.

The Ortho that I buy has 1.47 active ingredient, it is double strength but cost a little more. You can hook up to water hose and spray around the yard like others have said.
For indoors Enforcer is real good. It comes in a gallon container premixed with a built in sprayer for about 15 bucks. This stuff works real good and breaks the flea cycle. I used this indoors and on my dogs and their sleeping quarters and it worked great. I haven't had to use it once I started using bayer or ortho.
Enforcer can be bought at tractor supply (TSC) and it keeps working for almost a year...

Soaping your individual dogs up with dawn dishwashing soap will kill the fleas. Just lather them up real good and rinse them off. It won't prevent them or keep them out of your yard I don't believe.

Cedar chips or shavings repel various insects and external parasites.
