Dog trade and Classified are being "revamped"

If we have to keep babysitting both boards, they will go away.

I for one, enjoy having them as resources. What I don't like is having to deal with the crooks selling finished dogs and stealing people's money, and the buyers that don't have enough sense to take a test drive before they buy.  Then both parties want to call us and have us straighten out their problems.

If someone always has finished dogs for sale, beware.

If they want to meet you on the side of the road, beware.

If it looks too good to be true, it probably is, beware.

I think something needed to be done.  I have noticed several new members selling dog every other day, and also posting wanting to buy posts.  I think they need to be a member for a certain amount of time or post a certain number of posts before they have the privilage to post.

The problem with a post count requirement is this.

Good hog, good hog, good hog, good hog, good hog, good hog, good hog, good hog, good hog, good hog, good hog... finished dog for sale $5,000... meet me at Dairy Queen.

They just post BS posts to run up the count, then BAM they have some finished dogs, they are selling out, etc.

I like the term "member in good standing"---

I haven’t and probably never will sell a dog on classified adds, BUT I believe it’s a great tool for some good, honest folks to sell GOOD stock it COULD be a win---win situation ---Just a humble opinion from a "relative" newbie to THIS forum.

If it wasn't for the dog trade and classifieds ,I wouldn't even have a whole lot of interest in this site. There is a lot of good info and good people on here, but wading through all the bs and ignorance gets tiresome. On second thought , I guess I would keep on coming back cause I get a lot of good laughs on here. Truth is we're all still learning and all of us are at differrent levels of knowledge and preferences. We need to keep that in mind and as far as the "crooks" on here- if you haven't noticed they are everywhere. Except for the grace of God ,there go I.

I would like to add to CircleC's comment,
Have enough sense to research, ITS SIMPLE, click on the sellers name, then click on where it says "See All Of Users Recent Posts" then read up on that individual, Theey have 35 posts and 33 of those posts are in the DOG TRADE section, They don't buy a dog from them, "Why" because they don't contribute anything anywhere else on here to give a hint that they may have used those dogs to do anything with them. Its not absolute but its a "CLUE" not to buy from them. Then if they can't show you the dog hunt, then don't buy it!

PEOPLE PUT YOUR DERN PHONE NUMBER in the AD, OR DON'T POST, its a waste of everybody's time and, I don't take kindley to my time being wasted. When you figure OUT you forgot something in your ad, go to the "EDIT" button and change your ad, insread of posting again just the stuff you left out, it does not work that way.

ONCE AGAIN IF YOU DON"T LIKE THE RULES, or the people that are here, then DON"T READ IT, DON"T VISIT, BUT IF YOU WANT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT, you will get some help finding the door.

I enjoy the dog trade forum. The three dogs I currently own I bought through the dog trade forum. I'm well pleased with all of them. 2 are pups. And 1 is a finished dog, I had a 2 week trial on. Good dogs are there do your home work & get a trail.

Every dog that I own was bought off the dog trade, but i did my research. I am happy with everyone of my purchases. I guess I wouldn't be able to hunt without it.

there is only 1 thing I disagree with the mods saying that it is bad to meet folks at "Dairy queen" or the "side of the road", I only want the people close to me that I trust knowing where I live and keep my dogs. I had a fella meet me at my house one time to buy a finished bird dog, he got there scoped out the place and came back a week later while I was at work and stole every dog on the yard. I will never have another person come to my house to buy a dog.

i have been a moderator at two different unrelated sites. it is alot of work sometimes especially when you figure that it is done for free. it's done for the love of the site and sport, at least that is why i agreed to it.

Ben, Thats been something that has always bothered me too.... Its not always the seller thats a crook, sometimes it can be the buyer...Most of the dogs ive sold have been to people I know or have some kind of idea who they are... Luckily i havent had any problems other than me buying a few junk dogs...but they never left the yard the same way they came....

Plus i try to keep in contact with the people that buy a dog from me to see how they are working for them...  Wink
So far no complaints!!  angel

Ben, I feel the same way... but anyone selling a sure enough dog can show it in the woods, they don't have to know where you live.

The point, don't meet a stranger on the side of the road somewhere and hand over 100's or 1,000's of dollars based on an ad you found on the internet... it happens all the time. Huh?
