Wife wants a dane and my daughter wants a "Marmaduke" lol. Found one cheap and gonna get but dont know much about em, Do they have a nose or just used to catch? Figured id try it out and atleast breed it to my pit then breed that pup to my kemmer curr... idk we will see. Thanks for any help.

we had one that was a yard dog, kept him with the baby animals due to yoties and hogs comin in and killin em. hes caught a good couple runners for me before but has no nose and horrible in thick brush, if you really want a dane, mix him with a pit or maybe a cur to down size and give him better footing in the woods

I wouldn't hunt a full dane but like has already been said, cross with a pit. I had that cross and he was about 90 lbs., real leggy and fast, and had good wind. I could run him loose and he would strike and catch, or I could lead him in. Either way, he didn't bark or hesitate. Several others on the board have this cross and really like them, I would love to find another one.
