Not trying to start another thread about open vs silent , or if hogs run more with an open dog. I was just wondering how many people on this site run open mouth dogs and consistently catch hogs.

Jet308: almost every dog we hunt is open.. We have about 4 out of the 20 or so that are SILENT as night. Every other one we hunt gives mouth, may it be a little or a few with alot. SPEED and tons of bottom are what produce the pork for us. We over 130+ for the year, so the mouthy dogs are getting it done

Add me to the list, I hunt them both, dont matter, if a hogs gonna run, its gonna run and if its already runnin it dont matter if they are barkin or not, "its still runnin". I like something in the middle, I dont mind the mouth, caught plenty with open dogs.

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog... A hunting dog is born not made...

Guess I'm a 'middle' man too, my dogs are silent but I hunt with guys that have open mouthed hounds...mostly Plotts. Killed 137 hogs in GA last season in 2 months.....and these hogs run....like all those 'apes' y'all are always speaking of. So I guess it's working for us.

I have a redbone that's open. Works 4 me Cuz when he's chasing he calls the silent dogs to him. I used to open but I'm learning that it don't hurt to b open. I do think it keeps a hog running longer but if has a long headstart but if the dogs want him bad enuff they'll get him

Thanks for all of the input so far. I have a BMCxRedbone cross that's a little over a year old and he has found more than a few hogs but he has started opening on track. I was considering selling him because of it but I raised him from a pup and he has a whole lot of potential. Thanks again for the input, keep it coming.
