Spare me the BS. Show me the hog.

I recently bought a 2009 Yamaha Rhino 700 FI and after some thought, I decided that I was going to add a front rack and back rigging platform. I didn't want to make a permanent dog box because I just hate the idea of the bed being useless and not being able to carry a load.  I also wanted to be able to put dogs on the platform and carry tied hogs underneath.

After looking at a ton of pics on ETHD, I came across the Polaris ranger dog box that DoGONit (Eric) posted up for sale on the classifieds section.  I’ve heard good things about the stuff he builds, so I decided to give him a holler and discuss a few ideas to see if we could come up with something.

I also went ahead and bought a Strong Made front bumper and Seizmik front rack and figured I would have him make a custom mount for the rack being that it was intended to mount to the stock bumper.

When the rack came in, I was not impressed to say the least. It looked as though someone learned to weld while building it. So I probably would have been better of $$$, just having Eric custom make me one instead of reinforcing the rack and having to build a new front support and mount altogether.

I went ahead and dropped my rhino off at Eric’s, while heading to San Antonio for a week and he got started. I have to say I was quite impressed with him updating me every night with pics and progress.

After 4 days, he was finished and I went down to pick it up. I was really impressed. He did an absolutely outstanding job. The front rack has more function and sits better than the original rack was designed to and the instead of just a rigging platform in the back, he went ahead and built a dog box that hinges in the back, thus allowing me to have full use of the bed.

Took it hunting Saturday night and am completely satisfied with it.

I think I just stole your idea of the hinged back.  I like that a lot.   Grin

Very nice job.

Did Rex get ahold of that sow?  She looks like she had a rough night.

BTW, I like the rack, does it rattle much?

Thanks for the comments....

So far I really like it. It was a toss up between the ranger or rhino, but I decided that I wanted the smaller width and sportier UTV.

He always tells us to leave him and he will drag it out himself. I am not sure what that is about.  Grin

The rack dosen't really rattle at all. The chains on the other hand do. I am going to probably put plastic around them or electrical tape.
