The majority are in high fence game ranches, but the hill country has a pretty good population of free ranging exotics. In the Fredericksburg, Kerrville, and Harper areas especially.

There are many ranches in the west and the panhandle that have free range aoudad sheep, and other exotics. I hunt on a ranch just south of Post, TX. I've killed several aoudads on the ranch. It's all freerange out that way.

No, I don't think it's legal to release hogs in the wild. The TAHC has rules in place that restrict this sort of release. As for the aoudads, I don't know of any laws restricting their release on private property.

No. I mean there are no game fences. It's all low fenced. It is a cattle ranch, as most ranches out that way are. The low barbed wire fences won't hinder the movements of aoudad sheep. But, they do well on the cattle and horses.

John, there's a bunch of free range exotic in Texas. I hunted a ranch every year down near Del Rio that was loaded with auodad, axis, fallow and blackbuck.

Edwards, Kerr, Real, Gillespie, Val Verde.... list goes on and on..... but free ranging exotics are taking over. Some areas you will see more axis and such than whitetails now when driving down the road.
