G'day,

with a busy job and two little boys I don't get out nearly as much as I would like (yeah I know I'm not alone). A landholder that I know from the Bourke (8hours one way - 1500km round trip) area has been telling me that theres a quite a few about and at first I was a bit reluctant to go all that way from Tamworth just to burn up my brownie points for a handful of pigs. But in the end three of us headed out there and yes, there was a few about.

We arrived 2.00pm friday arvo and finished hunting sunday on dark and hunted only in the daylight. We had five dogs but one was put out of action on the first morning so this left us down a bit. We mainly hunted off quads and I was riding "shotgun" in the ute. The final tally was 52 pigs. To be honest the dogs were that worn out we ended up shooting quite a few, maybe 20. Of these we only got two good boars, one about 65 and the other 75-80kg. Unfortunatley the chiller was shut so we could not sell the pigs.

All the dogs are much better for the hard work. I'm hoping that these sort of numbers hang around a bit until we get the Black Mouth Curs here.

cheers

Troy

G'day thanks everyone forthe comments, I'll try and answer your questions.

That day care centre has a pretty short waiting list, in fact they'll even let me and my mates in.  You have to get able to count all your fingers and toes before they let you in so I suppose texans would be ok but not sure about those mississippi rednecks ...i've heard about them.... Grin

Dogs pictured - the ones in the dog crate are mine, black and white one is a bully X great dane (I think), shes old and I bought her as a pup trainer, I have had better but she's working better after this weekend, as her fittness is now good.  The brindle bitch (gyp) is a staghound bull terrier x god knows what.  She is shaping ok but doesn't have a lot of catch.  Very hardy and goes all day.  She needs a heap more work.

The dogs with me and the boar on the ground are bullmastiff great dane cross.  They belong to my mate.  The line is from Cecil Tyce (popular around here) they are going ok.

Myles - thanks for the comments, at the risk of shattering an illusion we hardly ever get that many in a weekend.  The recent floods have triggered massive breeding though and it looks like numbers will be up until we get another drought, which is about as likely as taxes going up......Don't be fooled you guys get some might hogs that make us jealous too.....

Heck of a weekend!!! Love that rig of yours!

I sure like your board name also! I think a good bred BMC will work mighty fine down under!
