I don't know man, that looks like a pain in the rear, handling all those pups. I could help you out if you need to lighten the feed bill

There is quite a bit written about the training benefits of handling puppies during the early development stages. Children have had it figured out since the beginning of time. The U.S. Army calls it the biosensor method.

Have you tried it Dan? I have read up on it. Practice it to some extent but man you have to put some time into it on a daily basis. The theory makes sense. Kinda like the horse whisperer. Lots of daily petting and letting the dog trust you, when you lay them on their back.

the kids love them but they handle them kind of rough but they are excited and dont do it mean. The pups come back for more and will follow the kids around. I think this happy but rough handling teaches them a lot of trust. My wife wont let the pups on the carpet though, or at least not when she is around . We play with them in the sand box, the grass, the gravel, tile, the deck, concrete so they get used to different textures.

In my opinion it does not take a lot of time to socialize pups but it must be quality time and the pups must trust you whole heartedly. When we can correct the the pups without them cowering down we know we are on the right track...

Arrowbar,....in my opinion you're doing exactly the right thing for your dogs, I've seen it done most every way and I do know for sure that NOT handling them and getting them used to humans will result in a dog that is a pain to handle and can't stand anything out of the ordinary. Good job I say.

Coach, Yes, It takes lots of time. That's why I limit the number of pups at my house. My family and friends handle them also.

I was told once to let your wife and kids raise the puppies and then when the time comes, you train 'em. We have always handled our Britts as much as possible.
Now, since we have the 3 girls we are adopting , it's gonna be easier. At 5, 4 and 4, they are all about puppies. And with 2 litters of Brittanys and a litter of YBMCs due over the next 30 days, they should have a big time and be helping without ever knowing it.
