Fedd it for about 6 months did good (i wont say real good) kept the dogs steady but couldn't put the weight on a skinny dog. Then after about 6 months dogs started to cough it was giving all of them throat infections, either they were having allergies or just a bad batch . Now feed sports mix dogs are doing great on it no more coughing

I work for a Nutrena dealer and I fed it for a long time. However, I found out Nutrena has a line of feed made more for working dogs. They call it Loyal. I switched to the Loyal High Performance and my dogs finally started having the stamina that my buddy's dogs did. It costs more per bag, but I fed less per dog and actually saved money. The kennels also stayed a lot "cleaner.". I donated a few bags to the Hunt for the Hungry. Maybe someone on here won them in the raffle.

i fed the river run for years (like 10 or so years) to my duck dogs. Did great untill I got into Hog hunting.Nothing strains a dog quite like hogs. I found that river run was unacdeptable for a dog under high stress the dogs were wore out after 2 hours of light hunting in the cool weather. I switched to black gold and noticed a huge difference in their stamina and stool. My dealer tried to sale me loyal but they wanted $33.00 per bag for a 40lb bag. and I cant afford that. I do know of a guy near here that supposedly runs a test center for dog foods and he said loyal is the best but it would cost me $5.00 per bag more than black gold and id only get #40. I did like the price tag on that river run though. I can get that white bag of 21% for about $20.00.

My question is there such thing as a decent feed whether it be corn based or not that is still under $18 a sack for 50#. You boys having to pay $30 plus a sack I truly feel for your wallet cause it can't be to thick.

I recently switched from sports mix to Outlaw 24/15. Its made in Temple, Tx. My first bag I bought for less than 19.somethng befor tax for a 50 lb bag. Found it at the ACE hardware in Salado while shopping for other stuff. I just wanted to try it and the price was right. Now I have to Drive to Carlos to that little feed store, which is 10 miles out of my way and it was 21.99 a bag. Its still cheaper than sports mix by a good bit even with the fuel cost. The dogs have been doing good on it.

i was feeding diamond 24/20 HI eng, switched victor. i like victor, but the way they went about a price increase just did`nt hit home with me, switched back to diamond, and i can get 50lb sack for $21.65!!! im not sayen it`s the best feed out there but it works for me and my dogs stay in great shape, and perform well enough for me. and i only have to drive 18 miles for pick up and make that trip once a month.

Greg. How does retriever compare to other feeds on the market?

Greg. How does retriever compare to other feeds on the market? Thomas, I fed retriever for a while and it is not bad. Clean up is a little more but dogs did well on it. Right now I feed sportsmix in the gray back for about 5 dollars more but right now it has 55 lbs. of doog food in the bag. The dogs eat very little in this heat and they look healthy.

I work bout 25 miles in a little larger town that has a tractor supply so I always buy my dog food there to save a trip anywhere else. thing is that particular store is kinda limited on sporting dog food. They have diamond, loyal, retriever. I've been buying the diamond for awhile and no complaints except the price has gone up.

What are the ingredients on the river run as they appear on the label? I been searching for what’s in it and cannot find it to save my life
---also what’s the price on the sportmixs?
I am feeding Diamond Natural lamb and rice and dogs are doing well on it for the time being, BUT I can use something with a bit better price tag. Thanks guys.
I personally do not like the fact that the TSC Retriever dog feeds first ingrediant is ground yellow corn I like the first one to be some sort of meat.

The River Run and Retriever were less money. BUT the extra pen clean-up was not worth it and they ate twice as much.
I feed black gold or hi pro Sportmix. I feed them about 1 1/2-2 cups a day and wash 1 solid pile of waste.
I have heard the diamond Extreme Athlete is a super good feed but you pay for it!

I fed diamond for awhile & all my dogs had loose stoles. With the retriever my dogs have hard stoles & go once maybe twice a day. I feed 4 cups a day per dog & I have had to cut my bulldog gyp down to 3 cups. But in all it works good for me & my mutts like it.
