RULES and REGULATIONS:
The contest is open to wild (feral) hogs hunted with dogs in any county in Texas and only harvested during the period from 5:00 p.m. on February, 27th, 2009 through 11:59am on March 1, 2009.

This is a dog-knife hunting hunting contest ONLY. NO SHOT HOGS!

Hogs cannot have been previously trapped, kept, or held for the contest.

Hogs must be harvested on free range properties. They MUST NOT come from behind a game proof fence.

No splitting of teams.  All team members must hunt together. Each team is permitted to run one pack of dogs at a time. For the purpose of this contest, a pack is considered a single group of dogs being handled by the team members. A team may not concurrently run multiple packs in multiple locations.

POLYGRAPH WILL BE USED TO INSURE THE INTEGRITY OF THIS CONTEST. Failing the polygraph, or refusal to take the polygraph will result in disqualification.

Each Team will be responsible for producing proof of each of their harvests, by digital photo,
Polaroid, video, etc. The Committee will instruct Teams on an item of the day for each day
(Friday, Saturday and Sunday), to be included in the pictures/videos.

Photos must have 3 of the 4 team members and MUST BE TAKEN IN THE FIELD as close to the time of harvest as possible.

A digital photo, video, Polaroid or 35 mm camera (if able to get pictures developed by weigh-in
time) will be required for all teams. If photos are taken using a camera phone (or any other device) they must be printed on hard-copy paper (3”X5” or larger), on a cd or a jump drive, or be able to be uploaded to the TDHA computer on site. The “item of the day” must be clearly visible and identifiable in the photos.

Any contestant found trying to cheat will be disqualified, banned from entering the
contest again, and will forfeit their entry fee.

Any individuals or teams found guilty of violating any Texas Game Laws during this contest will be disqualified.

No disorderly conduct, such as cursing, fighting, or rude behavior will be tolerated at the sign-in or weigh-in.

No guns, knives, or weapons of any sort can be displayed or worn on the sign-in or weigh-in
premises.

No injured or malnourished dogs of any kind are allowed on the sign-in or weigh-in premises.

No consumption of alcohol on the sign-in or weigh-in premises.

Each Team Captain has the option of standing in the weigh-in area to witness his or her team’s hogs being weighed and as the other teams are being weighed. Please be courteous of the judges and the space they need to conduct weigh-in.

Any Violation of these rules will result in the entire team being disqualified and the
individual(s) involved will be removed from the premises. Violation of the rules can
also result in banning the individual(s) from future TDHA sponsored events as well as
from the organization.

All protests must be in writing to Douglas Mason, TDHA President and Protest Committee Chair, and must be made immediately after the occasion arises for protest. The protest committee will then be contacted. All decisions of the protest committee are final!

Hegar,

Assuming we can catch a blind crippled hog, we are planning to keep it in a trailer, then using a spear to kill it Sunday am.  NO shot hogs, no exceptions is my understanding of the rule. Wink

Slim,

I have a spot reserved for you reserved on the camo short bus. I think Ben can manage a four wheeler on his own, but you probably need some assistance.

you can pre register online, but you are responsible for finding out the final rules, which will be made available that day.  hogs must arrive at the weigh in field dressed and in edible condition in order to be weighed for the contest.

All of yall who live a good ways away can pre-register online or by mail. You do not have to be there on Friday to sign up. Just make sure to call in and get the rules. You will have to be there Sunday by 12noon to weigh in.

IF yall catch big bring them, if not save the gas. As an example, even 3rd place, last year, payed in the neighborhood of $800 I believe... it has grown every year. Even a bonus hog would bring yall $350 this year. Heck, 5th place over all and a bonus hog would bring a pretty decent amount.

Even if you dont  catch big.....you can still come to the EXPO, donate what hogs you did get, and spend the day with hundreds of fellow hog hunters looking at anything and everything hog hunting.....This is a charity event and one that wants and needs every pound of wild pork you can bring in.  Come enjoy the fun and be part of EXPO 2009!

The buckles are really something to look at, very good idea.  The polygraph is also a A-plus, I think the turn out will be much better than ever.   My 2 cents Trent
