2009 TDHA HOG HUNTING CONTEST
Registration
All teams must sign in from 3-6:30pm February 27th, 2009 at the William Baber EXPO Center in Hallettsville, Texas.
Pre-Registration (online and/or mail-in) will also be possible via the TDHA web page and
must be completed by 12:00 noon February 27th.
**It is not necessary for all team members to be present during sign-in**
Entry Fees
(1) $160 Per 4 man Team with Dogs – 5 Heaviest Hogs & Bonus Hogs
Pay Out
(1) 1st place will recieve over $3,000 in cash and prizes, including matching custom belt buckles for the team!
(2) Each Bonus Hog Pays $350
(3) A full pay out sheet will be released at a later date
(** In the case of a tie for any team placing in money spots, the team with the heaviest 3, instead of 5, hogs wins)
**There will also be $100 of added money for the highest placing team composed of 4
TDHA members. (Must be the 4 members that compose the 4 man team at sign in).
Bonus Hogs (no additional charge, can be part of the heaviest 5, one bonus limit per hog)
(1) Heaviest Boar (** In the case of a tie, the boar in question with the logest single tusk will win.)
(2) Heaviest Sow (** In the case of a tie, the sow in question with the longest head (Tip of nose to top point of head) will win.)
(3) Longests Tusk (** In the case of a tie, the hog in question with the highest weight will win.)
(4) Most hogs on a stringer (** In the case of a tie, the stringer that has the higest total weight will win.)
Weigh-In
Weigh-in will be March 1, 2009 from 10:00am to 12noon
All hogs MUST BE IN LINE TO BE WEIGHED IN BY NOON SUNDAY. NO
EXCEPTIONS!!!
Hog meat must come to weigh-in in edible condition. Hogs must arrive at weigh-in being
thoroughly washed out (inside the body cavity and outside). Any dressed hogs determined by the committee to be unfit for human consumption will be disqualified. Use coolers and ice to ensure this. THIS RULE WILL BE STRONGLY ENFORCED.
There will be one additional rule announced February 27th (Friday) 5:00 pm at the
designated sign-in station (EXPO Center) and on-line (
www.tdha.org in the general message boards) for pre-registered teams. EACH TEAM MUST HAVE AND FOLLOW THE SPECIAL RULE.
All team members will be required to provide hunting licenses and photos prior to any of their hogs being weighed in. An inspector will ask for these. Be prepared and have them in hand.
There will be a group of inspectors that will mark and examine each hog as it is weighed in. If the inspectors find a hog to be un-edible or to have a unhealed\fresh bullet hole, that hog will be disqualified. If two hogs are found with unhealed/ fresh bullet holes that team will be disqualified.
Disqualified hogs can not be replaced.
RULES and REGULATIONS:
The contest is open to wild (feral) hogs hunted with dogs in any county in Texas and only harvested during the period from 5:00 p.m. on February, 27th, 2009 through 11:59am on March 1, 2009.
This is a dog-knife hunting hunting contest ONLY. NO SHOT HOGS!
Hogs cannot have been previously trapped, kept, or held for the contest.
Hogs must be harvested on free range properties. They MUST NOT come from behind a game proof fence.
No splitting of teams. All team members must hunt together. Each team is permitted to run one pack of dogs at a time. For the purpose of this contest, a pack is considered a single group of dogs being handled by the team members. A team may not concurrently run multiple packs in multiple locations.
POLYGRAPH WILL BE USED TO INSURE THE INTEGRITY OF THIS CONTEST. Failing the polygraph, or refusal to take the polygraph will result in disqualification.
Each Team will be responsible for producing proof of each of their harvests, by digital photo,
Polaroid, video, etc. The Committee will instruct Teams on an item of the day for each day
(Friday, Saturday and Sunday), to be included in the pictures/videos.
Photos must have 3 of the 4 team members and MUST BE TAKEN IN THE FIELD as close to the time of harvest as possible.
A digital photo, video, Polaroid or 35 mm camera (if able to get pictures developed by weigh-in
time) will be required for all teams. If photos are taken using a camera phone (or any other device) they must be printed on hard-copy paper (3”X5” or larger), on a cd or a jump drive, or be able to be uploaded to the TDHA computer on site. The “item of the day” must be clearly visible and identifiable in the photos.
Any contestant found trying to cheat will be disqualified, banned from entering the
contest again, and will forfeit their entry fee.
Any individuals or teams found guilty of violating any Texas Game Laws during this contest will be disqualified.
No disorderly conduct, such as cursing, fighting, or rude behavior will be tolerated at the sign-in or weigh-in.
No guns, knives, or weapons of any sort can be displayed or worn on the sign-in or weigh-in
premises.
No injured or malnourished dogs of any kind are allowed on the sign-in or weigh-in premises.
No consumption of alcohol on the sign-in or weigh-in premises.
Each Team Captain has the option of standing in the weigh-in area to witness his or her team’s hogs being weighed and as the other teams are being weighed. Please be courteous of the judges and the space they need to conduct weigh-in.
Any Violation of these rules will result in the entire team being disqualified and the
individual(s) involved will be removed from the premises. Violation of the rules can
also result in banning the individual(s) from future TDHA sponsored events as well as
from the organization.
All protests must be in writing to Douglas Mason, TDHA President and Protest Committee Chair, and must be made immediately after the occasion arises for protest. The protest committee will then be contacted. All decisions of the protest committee are final!
NOTES
** Each team member will receive free entry into the 2009 Wild Boar Hunting EXPO and a raffle ticket for special door prizes for contestants.
** Team members who bring old cell phones to donate will receive one raffle ticket per cell phone donated.
