Looks like you've already found em to me! What more do you need?
You got the skinning and sticking at the house already.

The 119 is a good sticking knife but for skinning a hog, you can't beat a Case Sodbuster

The bad thing about the Remington is it not having a finger guard....

If the knife gets wet and muddy, and you hit a bone or something while trying to stick the hog, your hand can slip and get cut...
Ive had it happen on a few occasions....

So i use the buck 119 and keep the Remington in my bag as a back up!!  Wink

i like having the full tang handle for the same reason. I use a Kabar for sticking. but you still cant beat an old Case for cleaning.

I spent a good amount of time looking for my pig sticker.  I like a drop point, with at least a 6.5" blade, finger guard, full tang, and relatively narrow from spine to blade (I've seen bigger knives get jammed up in ribs before).  I looked at a whole lotta knives and ended up buying a SOG Agency.  It's pricey at $100+ and I was skeptical about the leather washer handle at first, but I take meticulous care of my knives and it has a lot "warmer" feel in the hand than other materials.  My one complaint would be the quality of the sheath provided with it was lacking, but other than that it is a hog destroyer!  I have never had a single issue when sticking a hog and since I got mine, two of my hunting buddies have bought one as well.  Too bad I can't figure out how to post a picture because it's also good looking enough to make your hunting partners jealous.

For skinning, gutting and cutting meat I like a thin stainless blade and I know gerbers hold a good edge. A thick blade causes drag when slicing chunks of meat so a thin blade is what I like.

For sticking I like a strong blade that does not chip or lose the edge. I like carbon steel because it does not break as easily. The Kabar US marine corps survival knife is unbeatable in my eyes. I have owned mine when it only cost 27 dollars and now it is in the 70 something dollar range.

I use about a 27 degree angle on the blades edge and I rarely sharpen the blade. It took me several hours to shape the edge on the blade but holds the edge forever seems like. I also sharpened the top side of the blade the first inch from the tip so it cuts up or down and the blade is only 7 inches long and the length of the knife is only twelve inches and lightweight and not bulky.

I have cut 2 inch limbs with this knife in the woods to take out hogs and it holds the edge and has never broken.

The blade has a strong thick frame but the blood grooves take some of the weight out. The knife is not big and bulky yet it is is big enough to take down any hog.

I like taking care of carbon steel blades if they are worthy of it...

I would use a remington for sticking but not for skinning because they do not hold an edge for long.

For sticking that buck is good....that Gerber is a nice knife and I like the gerber pocket knives but that biggun seems too thick or wide. I like my old K-bar best tho but if you got both use the buck.

For skinning I don't think you can beat a Case Muskrat with CV blades...I hate the stainless steel.

Gerber for skinning!

x2

My son skinned 2 deer with his gerber without having to sharpen his knife.

I skinned one deer with my case trapper xx and I sharpened about five times.

I now own a Gerber... Smiley
