A friend of mine and I went on a little round tonight after the rain today we figured the pigs might be moved in. We were hunting with my dog cowgirl, miley and my bird dog rusty My buddy had his 85lb bmc straight catch dog jake and his bird dog buster. Well my rusty dog struck a rank boar and all the rest of the dogs went to hammering. Jake the straight catch apparently caught for a few seconds and then I could hear a yelp then a deep bark. Everything went south from there. To top it all off the boar was in some of the thickest stuff in liberty county and we were fighting just to get to the bay. I finally got to where i could see the hogs back quarter about fifteen yards away and i could tell at this point the only thing left baying were my dogs so i took a shot at hat i could see to hopefully stop the ars whoopin he was givin. the boar broke and the dogs got him stopped about twenty yrds away I made it in and took another shot and figured he went down because all went quiet. By the time i made it to where the boar had been I was really suprised not to be looking at him. all i could find of the pig was blood. Rusty took out trying to shut him down again according to the garmin but only went about 80 yards and either lost him or found him dead. we went ahead and got the dogs to the rig and started patching dogs up. Jake and buster took stitches and the other three were just poked and scratched. All the dogs took a few good hits but i think everyone is ok. My first call tomorrow will be to tomballdogos to see if he wants to bring a dog to help us get this joker caught if we cant find a dead hog in the daylight. Hopefully i can find him so i can see just what we were dealing with.

A pic of the pack less my miley pup

Don't ya just hate it when the catch dog barks?

Sounds like it was a dang good one Peach! Don't surprised if he is alive and extra pissed this morning so don't forget a dog or two! I'm hoping to see pictures of it by lunch though.

I hope you get the hog. The only thing thriving in this drought seems to be briars and vines!

I'm bettin' that he's dead peachcreek, least I hope so. If you had thought to look, not that you didn't have plenty to see to anyway, in the mouth of the last dog on him that came back to you and see if it had any hair in it's teeth where it had been chewing on him if he was dead. At least you can go back to where the Garmin shows that the dog turned to come back to you, maybe you'll find him expired right there. Good luck and I'm glad no dogs got seriously injured....let us know what you find.

The hog probably died because most dogs will get quiet and leave once the game is dead. They just totally lose interest, at least that has been my experience.
