Took my new dogs out hunting yesterday and one of them brought in 2 armadillos. Guy I got them from said hes never had them trash. We never really went into any kind of spot where there was any hog sign at all. The guy we were hunting with caught a pig back there they other day but we never went back to that spot with the dogs. Thinking maybe she just got bored had dogs do it when they got bored before. Got onto her about it and she didnt bring anymore for the next 3 or 4 hours we had her out. What are yalls thoughts on this?

I see it as a minor problem, running deer is a different story...

Shoot man she's just trying to earn her keep. If you put good dogs in piggy spots you'll get pigs next time.

I appreciate the feedback. The guy we were hunting with is telling me that they are crap and that I should take them back, but other than that they worked hard and I was proud of them worked harder than the other dogs with us at least. Just gonna make sure to go where I know theres pigs next time so I can really see them work.

We hunted in the evening when she caught the dillos. Went to another spot last night and she worked hard just did not find any pigs but she never once brought me a dillo last night.

Ahhhhhh don't grieve over it too much man,...one of my dogs hates them with a passion, the other couldn't care less about one,....it's not a big deal to me....they both hate hogs more. Give 'em a chance before you pass judgement on them.

Be glad it was a dillo, our dogs like to start most hunts with a skunk. But they always come throught with some pork so we overlook a few skunks.

Plan on taking them out possibly tonight and some this weekend. They both hunt hard so its just a matter of getting them on the pigs pretty sure she was just bored. Appreciate the feedback.

That's what we call them to. .. it seems that hog dogs and dillos and skunks just go together give them dogs a shot it just happens sometimes.

Had an old-timer tell me that if a young dogs bays an armadillo that is not a problem. I personally wouldn't like it with an older or experianced dog though. And it could very well be cause it was just bored.

how old are these dogs? how much have they been hunted? just a cpl question to ask urself. i`ve said once and i`ll say it again, i would rather have a young dog hunt it`s arse off and trash a lil bit then a dog that does`nt hunt at all! i can always try and break one from trashing but u just cant make a dog hunt that does`nt have the heart to do it. if u like them feedem and huntem, and if the other fella does`nt like them let him hunt with his dogs and u hunt with yours.

I have to say that yall can come up with some pretty good excuses for why a dog will trash on something. Im a realist, I think that any dog that has good prey drive will naturally go after other animals besides a hog but if it still produces hogs then so be it. They can be trash broken but I would choose what to break them off of carefully. Like cattle and deer. JMO
