took some guys from dallas on a guided hog dog hunt.everybody that hog hunt knows when u take somebody hunting it never goes good, but we had alittle bad luck at first. Had some cows break up the first bay. then about 30 min later bayed a whole herd of hogs had to wait 5 mins or so to get one broke out the herd but we got him done. Wasnt trophy non the less hes a rooter.
The next hog we got this morning didnt take but 20 min. never turned catch dog loose bay dogs shut her down. believe it or not the little sow looked heavy breed. If my cows were that productive i would be a million air. good luck every one just sharing our weekend. enjoy reading everbodys storys happy huntin

Seems like a productive hunt. What made you wait to try and seperate one from the sounder?

thanks i hunt with 4 bmcs and 1 catch dog amerigo and one smaller runnin catch dog that i keep on the mule tell trails get hot to slow down them runnin boars. I like bmc they are a tuff ,gritty and a natural bay dog.
the reason for waitin on one hog to break out is we run into to these big herds alot. In past experience when dogs start working on one others will come up from behind and bust up the bay so they learned after a few bad cuts to circle the herd like a collie dog makin small barks lettin us know they bayed the herd then one runs out allowing the dogs to put a stop to him. Not splitin the herd up so bad so we can catch back up to them before they leave our hunting area. Also we bayed the herd at 10 at night.

I will posts pics of my dogs later tonight. land owner called and said hes got a unwanted rooter so ill post pics when i get back thanks again for compliments
