Scott, tell me what you think, you have been my mentor with Sackett. I just thought Id start a conversation or maybe an enjoyable argument here. Question is, how old does a Bulldog need to be for his teeth to have a good set before you start him in the woods? He's an AB if that would make a difference.

I started my AB at 11 months she still has all her teeth lots of ppl I know say 1 year. Be carefully start them on a shoat not a rank boar they can lose teeth a catch dog without teeth is useless unless her name is snow my AB great grandma she caught at ten without a tooth left.

Bobby, I usually don't start hauling them to the woods till they're a year old. They've usually caught a time or two before I do. About the teeth...I can't say for sure, but I like to let pups be pups until it's time to go to work.

Well I have heard 1 year minimum and I have heard 15-16 months. He'll be a year in August. Bad as I'd hate to, I'd rather give him plenty of time vs take a chance and jesk a tooth or more.

I agree with letting a pup be a pup. And I dont want to jeopardize him needlessly by me being foolish. I am thinking when it starts to cool off, hopefully October. He'd be 14 months. But I am thinking I will start hauling him more just to get him used to it.

I start haulin mine to the woods at 6 months. But thats just for manners and handle. They are either in the box, on top, or on a leash. take them that young to try to teach them to be quiet, and mind. i dont let mine start catchin til they are a year.

x3, Ill show mine a shoat at 4mo to see there interest. After that they get carried to the woods and left in the box or I let them run around and get use to bein in the woods. All my dogs rig so I start them on top of the box early.
