chris we use the lickit and work great. got the ideal from lionboarhunter  when he was down last year.ordered ours from wharton feed. i think about 7 bucks a peice. ran plastic line and insulated them to keep cool and from occasional freeze. fresh cool water at their conveinance. they willl drip on floor some when they drink from it and are easier for them to work than pig drips.

I have about 6-8 of those water nipples if you want to try them out, they are in a bucket in my garage.

Are they in a bucket because you didn't like them, or just haven't gotten around to installing them?

Reuben,
Is there a functional difference in the pig nipple vs the Lixit?

I don't know how the dogs would do on the pig nipples but they look heavy duty...

I have used 6 lixit dog waterers for at least 10 years and only had one that developed a drip and I changed it out...

Puppies and dog learn how to use them very easily and quick. I just rubbed a little bacon grease on the lixit nipple and the pups/dogs learned on their first day.

Kennels are set in place and anchored to the wall with pipe straps. Still have to level the floor, and install water lines and feeders...

Circle C, You are pouring the kennel floors also, right?

Why didn't you just do it all in one pour?

"Ultimately, the kennels will have a two rows of cement block between each kennel, with concrete floors sloped to a PVC drain on each, running to a header, and ending up in a small septic with a grinder pump. All the plumbing is on hold, as my friend that's a plumber is in the middle of his busy season, and won't be available to assist until the fall. So, for the time being, I will leave the dogs on dirt/shavings for the flooring. With just the concrete footers to keep them from digging under, and I'll lay cattle panel on the floor about 2" below grade to keep them from digging holes.  "

3 rows of block will prevent breeding through the pens.  2 will only deter it.   Wink

Our male dogs are neutered.  Two rows shouldn't be a problem in our situation.
