30-06...but I would rather buy a 7mm magnum in bolt action...

Depends, 7mm is too much gun up here. Most arhound here use 30-30.  I would suggest 308. Seems your lookin at smaller cal. The 308 would probly give you what your lookin for. Unless you lookin for somethin real fancy, you can catch the savages on sale at walMart for bout $300.

Doin pretty good were gonna head offshore at midnite..... Me personally if i was gonna get a 7mm i like the 7mm STW jmo.

.308 is a great caliber...If you want long range flat shooting the 25-06 or 270 aren't bad at all.

308 is a bit much for squirrel.   Grin check out those rossie rifles with enterchangeable barrels,  you can get barrels in most caliber. Only takes a few seconds to change them and they are very affordable.
