Dogo, cuz if you have a good one it's really all you need

Catahoula, it's what I was raised around and what I still hunt with most the time

Lacy, I got a good one, ones I been around can't be beat for speed, heat tolerance, stamina, and especially personality

Plot, I'm a sucker for brindles and I love the sound of a hound and the way they hunt. If I could color all dogs brindle I would, especially the Dogo. We have trackin collars now and don't need to be able to see them in the woods Smiley

Stag, flat out raw speed, easy to handle

Small game bred pit, can't be beat for a lead in cd, could even stick them in a backpack or across your lap in the saddle if you need to. One day I will own one for myself.

I'm growing real found of the bmc but that I'm actually hunting and getting going now are

#1 cur hound cross. If she'd just stay shut up I'd like her a lot better but I've caught pigs behind her so she's workin'.
#2 Kemmer cur...Lots of heart and go for being 6 he's a neat lil dog
#3 bmc...easy to start. he started at 6 or 7 months he honored a bay at 250 yds and had the pig by the tail when I got there and keeps getting better
#4 Cat/Kemmer cross...Long legged and lots of heart just not much hunt on him.
#5 Pit cur cross. 6 months old and hates a pig. super easy handle and I didn't mess with him much and he'll kennel up when told and can call him off gonna be a jam up lil dog.

I have 3 ybmc pups that should be turnin' it on in a month or so.

My lead strike dog that just passed away was bmc and plott but not sure how much plott and She was jam up.

Catch dogs are pits. I like them because they have such a bad rep and I like showing people other wise and I just got lucky that the bloodlines I have are easy starters. I have a pup out of my blue catch dog that hasn't been hunting yet but on mock hunts he hasn't missed an ear and will go to a bay.

Bdd I'm located in hico area not getting to hunt none right now bottle feeding fawns is about to wear me out lmao.  Seen about 10 12 hogs this morning in open field and mouth went to watering and oh how I wish I would have dogs have half permission to hunt it but the hogs are marathon runners but in that field they would have been smoked lol.

Okay here goes.....

#1-  Florida Cur- The REAL ones not some bulldog crossed up dog found in the projects.....
#2 - Florida Cur crossed with Florida Cur...... Grin
#3 - Florida Cur with about a 1/4 Birddog (english pointer seems to be the birddog of choice) in them.
#4 - Florida Cur with a touch of Ridgeback. I had a couple of these and they were good rough dogs. A little too rough!
#5 - Florida Cur x Huh??  Still waiting on that fifth one!

Course, after almost 30 years with TRUE Florida curs, I may be a tad partial to them......... Grin

A true Florida cur is a working dog from south Florida, specifically Okeechobee.

Dog peddlars market the name and sell any dog from Florida, that will bark at a hog in a pen.  It's a hard to find a real one unless your "connected" to the right people.

When we say what breed is tops it really is more like what strain is best within a breed or even narrow it down to a dog within a strain/breed. I forgot how hard it is to get a good dog... Shocked Sad

1.I like the right mtn cur

2. mtn cur/bmc cross

3. bmc/hound cross (plott,running walker, redbone)

4. mtn cur/pit cross

5. ADBA APBT for catch dog
