Not directed at anyone.

It is hot outside. With most of the land I hunt the tanks are almost dried up. We carry as much water as we can for the dogs while hunting. It isnt hard to grab a few gallon jugs and a small bucket and snap it on the wheeler to water dogs. I know most people already do but we owe the mutts that much. Also it is easy to look up and hour by hour temp forcast. Pick the times when it is the coolest. Again, I know this is common sense stuff but.........just a reminder.
I messed up my bird dog a few seasons ago. Had water but it was just after a september rain storm and she got hot. Has never been the same. I dont care about the 3k I spent on training, I care because she is my best friend.

EXCELLENT post---

We carry a camel back with 2 liters of cool water, most of it goes to the dogs IF we do not find a good puddle, lately it’s been raining here so it’s a bit better but it seems we hunt from puddle to puddle almost.

Great reminder about the water this time of year, and the electrolytes in the drinking water, which i separate from water in big tubs or livestock troughs. My dogs have learned to regulate their body temps. by getting in as much as they can, even if just the feet/legs. I know it's alot more work/chore for us pack leaders to do but you gotta beleive they're worth it.

I have a small igloo cooler that I fill with water and attach it to my rear rack I just set it on the ground and take the top off and let the dogs drink
I carry it everytime just in case.....besides my dogs are spoiled they won't drink out of a puddle.  Smiley
