Very good article Chance and the problem is getting worse. I was told that some of the Thoroughbred world was starting to get involved in trying to bringing the slaughter plant back. It is ashame that most of our country is run by people who don't live in the "real world"  I often wondered  that if the people who have to deal with the problem took pics and videos to show the public, who has no idea, what a horse who was "saved from slaughter" looks like being starved to death in someone back yard or the one that are turned loose would it make a difference. They are having that problem even here in florida with loose horses. I am not for sure why people close their eyes to the real facts of life.

Not being able to slaughter horses has absolutely "killed" the horse market.   There are so many horses you can't even give one away, much less get what the horse is really worth.  Try finding any hay to feed one this year... good luck.  We sell hay and there are a lot of people that cant wait to get rid them.  Its just gotten to expensive to have them.  Rescue centers are full and cant feed them either.

SOOO... It comes down to the issue just like what PETA wants to do with handling wild hogs... If they think its such a great idea to have "no hog left behind" (put them in pens to stop destruction!!) and ban horse slaughter...  LET THEM RAISE THE MONEY TO FEED THEM!!  Now thats whats up!

Good article chance, and I agree 100%. Horses used to be big business even here the mtns.  We have a big sale barn up here, and it got so bad that you had to lock your trailer while you were inside, cause it would be full of horses when you came out.
You can't even give a good horse away, that used to would bring $1,500 to $2,000.
I cant see nothing but good that would come out of opening them back up, it would greatly boost the economy, and keep horses from suffering.
PETA and hsus don't love animals, they just hate people.

Check these people out, not many people have heard of them, but they are doing their best to put hsus and PETA out of buisness. They seem to have a little common sense.
I dont know where they stand with the slaughter houses, but might be worth checking out.

do what u wish, but I would try to keep peta away from me and hog hunting. In otherwords handle them like a rattlesnake! Dont underestimate their power.
If you don't fire them up and show them you mean business then all you are doing is giving them the power and thats where this country is going straight to hell.

Good article Chance, I see it everyday shoeing horses. People aren't takeing care of them like they used to. Can't afford to take care of them like needed and got nowhere to go with them.

What harm would come to me if Peta walked through my pens? Now I may be shooting a little off here, but last time I checked peta is just an organization. They are not law makers or law enforcers. They just like to make a bunch of suggestions and keep the pot stirred.

Sir I assure you that peta would have no problems poking you. As far as the rattlesnake, shoot em in the head before they bite you.

As far as animal rights activists go and what harm can come to you, I have two words for ya....Floyd Boudreaux.

The only reason Peta would have to walk through your pens is to use you in a smear campaign. They are animal rights extremists just like hsus. They do not typically rescue animals, and of the few they did rescue last year, something like 95% of them were euthanized. Peta's sole purpose is to prevent you from being able to have pets, eat meat, wear animal textiles (wool or fur whether the animal died for you to wear it or not), and to prevent animals from being used and exploited by people (do you ride horses or get cured from a drug that was tested on an animal?).

Peta and hsus are wealthy lobbying groups and domestic terrorist organizations. How they continue to operate with the track records they have is beyond me. They have good advertising and a sympathetic base. The spca in my book is not too far behind them.

America has some jacked up laws and PETA has money. Laws can be twisted and PETA has people on payroll from donations in the MILLIONS. Go ahead and let them in your yard.....LMAO

Thanks for all that post I knew what was going to happen if we did not. I have a interview with Fox 26 tomorrow at 4. Not sure if it will air but they are bringing  cameras. Thanks so much Mandi you have a way with words. Way better than Chris cause he would just go tell them to get !!!! Lol

We will see how it goes the story was going to be done know matter what all I can do is try to guide it in the right direction.

For the ones that say stay away I hold nothing  against you.
But please don't  sit around and wait tell the fight comes to you cause that is when they are prepared and you are not.

I hope PETA dont read this. They will not go away because you choose to ignore them.

And I guess y'all dont think Peta had any input in the TX puppy mill law? They are already working on you and they are out of sight doing it.

KInda reminded of that ostrich with his head in the sand here.

that's right Bobby...peta is working 24-7 on anything that is against us. They push for small ordinance, laws etc. that make it hard for us to get a hunting liscence, make it haed to get rid of horse, are involved in tougher trespassing laws etc. etc... These crazy folks are dangerous. They know to divide and conquer as well as to take baby steps but they are always making progress against us. We will wake up one day and will be wondering what happened... Huh? Shocked

over time those baby steps will add up.

We need to be careful on what type of pics we post...Peta really loves the dummies that post certain type of pics. Evil

No sir I don't hide nothing I don't do nothing wrong. I support yall who fight for are rights. The one who runs and hides looks guilty.

Would you still fight and be labeled a criminial if what you can legally do now is later made illegal by the easily swayed and media controlled masses? Nothing worse then when a government passes a riduculous law due to lobbying and money that suddenly turns good regular decent citizens into being labeled criminals just for doing the same things they have for generations.

Breed specific legislation, mandatory spay/nueter laws, kennel permits, laws on how you can or can't kennel or transport dogs and livestock, it's never gonna end with these folks.  They are either so far removed from reality or so eaten up with the desire for profit that they will keep picking at agriculture and hunting until they have the whole country eating vegan and wearing hemp clothes.
