Any breed of dog has good and bad within it. If you need track dogs to get to the hog to bay, a hound is a good addition to any pack. However, if you are overrun with hogs that are easily spotted by the hunter him/herself, a cur is most likely a better option. Curs tend to use their eyes, whereas a hound perfers to use it's nose. Neither is better, just different. Both have their place depending on the situation at hand. ![Grin](http://www.easttexashogdoggers.com/forum/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

I have a bluetick gyp and she is a good strike dog.. Blueticks find hogs good and usually range out good, but the only thing I don't like about them is most are open..

My main strike dog is a bluetick. He is LONG range, and he will put teeth on a hog to stop him. My buddy has one that is a lot rougher than mine but he hunts more like my curs. His is totally silent and mine only barks after a hog breaks.
