We had a good turn out, dont know exact number but was standing room only inside the building, and there was hundreds standing outside, all the way around the building looking thru the Windows.
You can see my youngest daughter at the first of the video, on the far left of screen.
I was pretty pleased with those on stage that were representing the hunters, they did an outstanding job, of being respectful, but also blunt and to the point, and had facts and documents. I dont think the Twra was prepared for at all, and caused them to do a little back peddling, and studdering. Lol.
They pretty much said that they didn't care what we thought, they were not gonna change anything, cause it worked in Kansas.

and we inadvertantly allowed it to happen because we are too busy feeding / raising our kids to be good citezens , working to pay our taxes and trying to mind our own business !

Well I finally got to look at the video....if you look on the news channels website, go to the videos section and search 'hog hunters' and it will come up. There are actually 2 videos about hog hunting, one that I saw said that sport hunting wasn't effective in TN and that was why the TWRA had to change it's approach to the 'problem'. I agree with them that it hasn't done much to change the hog population,...what they, as governmental agencies so often do, failed to tell, was that the hog season in TN was so short that it couldn't possibly be of any of any real use in the effort to reduce the population. I've live in AL but I've hunted in TN for about 35 years and this is not a surprise at all.....watch the video and tell me if you think the gentleman in the suit with TWRA has ever killed a big game animal in his life. The people on the board at TWRA will have to be unseated as soon as possible, for this one reason,....as most people in a position of power that answer to no one so often do,....they have forgotten that they work for the people of the state of Tennessee and they will be fired,....period!

It truly makes me sick! Most of the people that voted to pass these new laws have probably never saw a wild hog nor the destruction they can cause! Then they use the excuse that it "worked in Kansas"! I have been to Kansas and from what I remember it is nothing like Tennessee!

You are absolutely right Neal, they kept saying it was open 365 days a yr. But that was still hunting on private land only.
Very limited dog seasons, only couple day hunts here and there.
And the point was made very clear to them that they work for us, and that WE own the wma's and we were coming after there jobs.

And the whole Kansas deal was happend before they got a good foot hold. These hogs in Tn been here a long time.

And i agree that Kansas aint nothin like Tn.  I could see how it worked up there.

I would but theres only 4 county's in which you can run dogs, and all 4 of them are 3 hrs west. And there is too much comp. From the locals, and I just assume that my name wasn't on their list.  Wink

Tom the best way out of this for you TN folks, that I can see, is to torment the legislators that installed these nit-wits until they uninstall them. There are enough of you folks to make them wish they had never put these idiots in that position in the first place. I haven't read the plan that Kansas used so I'm not familiar with it, BUT, if I had to guess I'd say that Kansas stopped all hog hunting as part of this 'plan' to remove hogs.....TN saw this and said "Hey,...we like that idea, we can really stick it to these ****** dog hunters and blame Kansas for cutting their hunting out." For over 35 years I've hunted and fished in TN, and I can say without a doubt that TN is one of the most hunter unfriendly states I've ever been in and that's a real shame.....it's like the TWRA is afraid that you're gojng to catch a limit of trout or actually have a good, productive hunt with dogs. I feel for you folks up there and have for years...good luck my friend.

x s 2 fire medic !  I wonder if they ain't just really wanting them to get good and populated and then charge the hell out of people to hunt them . we didn't used to have turkeys here ,twra moved them in , not just on the wma's but onto private farm land . now they are destroying peoples gardens and scratching around like chikens in peoples yard . i planted 12 acres of my place in corn to pay my ever increasing property taxes and help with the farm payment . the turkeys have torn down 3 rows on the side next to the woods where they nest . yet if i get caught shooting one out of seoson to eat - or a hen anytime i could go to jail longer than i would for drug manufacturing . it costs 600 a acre to put out corn  AND THATS BEFORE IT COMES UP ! now the game wardens we have here now wouldnt do that BECAUSE they grew up in the real world like me . whats gonna happen when they retire and they hire some youg punks that don't know their ass from a hole in the ground ?

twra have protected and regulated deer hunting so close that they are eating plants off of peoples patios in places . my dad pulled some strings and got a permit to shoot them , they have killed nearly 200 since may, and still on just one 50 acre farm he figures they are gonna cost him 6;000 .

i wonder how much more money they have took in on hunting liscense / tags from out of state since the deer and turkey got over populated ? all at the expense of the taxpaying native tennesseans trying to make a living off the land their daddies and grandaddies left and entrusted to them  !

something is fundamentally wrong here , my people came in here across the mountains and forded the creeks and rivers , defended their lives against indians outlaws  , the british , the yankees , the carpetbaggers and a whole world of other difficulties , and now the country they helped make is being ruined by lawyers and polticians behind our backs while we are minding our own business !

hogs are getting closer to my county by the week and when they get here , i won't have to go as far to hunt !
