The long wait is finally over.
TxMason's HOPE finally landed in Northern Territory, Australia after flying from Texas to Sydney just over a month ago for her stint in Quarantine.
She is obviously quite wary of what is going but is already mixing well with some of our dogs she has met so far...
She has just gone 11mths old and is already our largest gyp.
She will be given a couple of weeks to settle & learn the basic commands & expectations around here. Once they have been achieved she will be introduced to one of hunting teams & get the opportunity to show us what she has Wink
Hope at the Airport

First stint in the ute

Her introduction to Echo (our previously imported male)

Hope checking out her new surrounds

Hope came out of her shell a bit more today.
The kids spent a lot of time with her & my other dogs were let out one at a time at 5 minute intervals...instead of the big "rush".
She ventured towards the stables and decided to have a bark at the horses....A quick "HOPE NO" & she back peddled........
I figured with the confident tail posy & positive movement across the yard with the other dogs, she may be ready to have a look at our penned pigs..........

Just wanted to take time to thank Mr. Mason for his info. on the pups bloodline, and for his continued experience not only with the production/training/promoting of the Catahoula breed, but to the hunting community at whole particually hog hunting as a longtime mentor/leader to many in these fields plus more. If not for your determination/work ethic, etc. over a lifetime of dedication to dogs,hunting/trapping, etc. ie: producing quality hunting dogs; training dogs and people to improvement of ethics, etc. and shipping around the world to help promote dogs/people/hunting/etc. It's just sad there isn't more like you, thanks again for your inspiration/advice/experience sharing, etc. God Bless, your friend R.Case

Tx Mason's Hope is finally getting a chance to run free & settle into the pack now. Training & her being settled has been a bit delayed due to the fact she has been on heat since she got here Sad
So not only did the second "NEW" arrival in a month stir up the kennels a tad  Undecided her being on heat just added to the "TENSION" around the yard  Angry
So i've just stood back & let things ride a tad......
She did get a ride with us on Sunday morning. I went out to shoot a bit of dog meat for the freezer. Took a few hounds "in case" a few hogs were to be found  Wink
The dogs jumped from the ute within 2 minutes of arriving & bailed a boar about 800mts in. Waiting on an ankle re-co I thought this would be a nice opportunity to "slooooowly" walk Hope in for an intro into bailing boars in Oz (of course, i couldn't drive in because it was over the fence in the next paddock Sad !) I took my time paying attention to her reaction to wallabies & other new smells.... She didn't care, she was just nose down, head up(to noise) then nose down & head up again in the direction of the noise going on up ahead... Pulling like a steam train.......Once we got there she wasn't so eager lol..
But after a minute or so settled & had a few good meaningful barks.
The next one i let her out of the cage once the others had hit up, with the third she was let jump & follow the others on the scent trail... Will still being distant, she was barking with intent & gave me enough to smile about for now!
The next 3 boars she was made to observe or listen to from the ute!
A bit more one on one time with her over the next few weeks & she'll be inserted in a pack fulltime
Hope being led into her first "Bay" in Oz!

Hope getting a bit more intent Smiley
