Just got two new catch dogs.  Two females 3/4 pitt and 1/4 bull mastiff abt 14 weeks old. These are my first pitts to own and I am unfamiliar with a pitts temperament. (We have labs, lacys and setters)

These two dogs are very timid and like to hide or lay prostrate when I approach them. It is surprising because they were very bold when we went to pick them up.   I have had them for 5 days and they are warming up very slowly.  They haven't been abused or bullied by other dogs.  I haven't corrected them either, only petting, feeding etc.  Is this behavior standard for the breed?

Thanks in advance.

Craigslist Austin - she had one male left Mastiff color with a light brindle underneath, pretty dog.  I bought my two for $75.  I bet she'd give the last one away.

Heres mine,he was about 3-4 months old when i got him 1/2 pit 1/2 bullmastiff. The most loyal and courageous catchdog and family dog i have ever owned.

Here is is grown up at about 90-95 pounds. He is retired and living a life of luxury

Heck man, that puppy picture of your dog looks 100 % identical to my 1/2 pit 1/2 have ab cross same exact color, head shape, white chest, and white paws.  Literally identical she is also turning into a good loyal companion and house dog I'm hoping her head will be comparable in size to your dogs now but as far as weight I'm betting she won't pass 65 pounds.  Good looking dog

Here's a pic of my two at 15 weeks.  This is Sally and Sue.

Identical dogs, a nice matched pair.  They should be fun to hunt together.
